Men's Golf

Wake losing ground like crazy. Now only -5 for the day and 2 ahead of Cal. Still 9 ahead of UNLV, but these guys just can't close the deal on the big stage. Not sure it bodes well if they make the finals.

Fitzpatrick had a nice round going before doubling the par 5th 18th. Ouch.

JFC - Illinois is -17 ....FOR THE DAY. That's absurd.

Lost another stroke to par-- now only -4 for the day and 1 stroke ahead of Cal who is -10 for the day. Wake has the worst score of any of the top 8. Haas really should go

Cal just tied us and they are -11 for the day 7 better than Wake. Just hope we run out of course before we run out of lead

Lol we're going to safely qualify that's all that matters

UNLV is -2 for the day and worse that Wake. Haas' team has seemed to have had a great year. Won a bunch of tourneys with good fields. Will advance through the regional to the NCAAs. There isn't much more the team can accomplish. You can't fire a guy after a season like this (unless his last name was Gaudio).

Bud's Uber reactionary posts are always good for a chuckle.

How many years has it been since Haas won the ACC? Made a good showing in the NCAAs? They just seem to have trouble on the big stage

We've lost 5 strokes, so far, in the last 2 holes.
Since 18 is a par 5, I was hoping we'd finish with a flurry of birdies. Jus the opposite is happening.

Rough 5 stroke swing on 17 an 18. Not sure how this is attributable to the coach. Hope they hold on!

I think Haas will have a good teaching point to the entire team about needing to maintain your focus for two weeks from now. Our performance on 18 has been less than Stellar which should be a pretty easy hole. But the bottom line is qualify for the finals which we've done mission accomplished.

Not sure either. But a coach can make a difference. Just review Jessie's career as head coach. He could not play golf worth a damn, but somehow just won championships

Men's golf is extremely more competitive than it was back when haddock was coach. Haas has certainly had problems with teams not playing well in the postseason. But calling for him to be fired right before the NCAA finals is a curious take. Seems like we're set up to be pretty consistently top 10 quality for a while now

We are in the club house at -15. Cal is on the course at -14 as is UNLV at -9. FSU is just below the cut line at -5. We should be safe, but we did not play well down the stretch today

If fsu birdied every hole they had left we would still qualify

Solid week. Did what they needed to do. Onto the NCAA finals!

Making it to the finals is great, it's what you want to do every year. But let's not act like being one of 30 teams that make it is equivalent to a final four or elite 8 in basketball. We need results in the finals if we are actually a golf school and have a good team. Just making it to the finals is not much more than simply making the dance in basketball. Maybe a 1st round win.
