Men's Golf

Bill with nearly a -2 strokes gained putting rating today, and nearly -1 for the week. Yikes.

Well, that has to be pretty cool for a Dallas boy. How does he keep getting in Tour events?

This one he has sponsor's exemption. Not sure how he got into the Farmers. I think there is a limit on number of sponsors exemptions you can have in a season so he needs to get some top 10s (to automatically get in the next week) and FedEx cup points to get more starts.

The women's golf team finally has a full contingent of players after playing one to two walk-ons for what seems like a year at least. We are currently in 4th at the Darius Rucker which contains a very strong field.

Maybe these results are why Will left early.

No.

First of all, WF's current best player, Cameron Young, isn't playing in this tournament. Second, Paul McBride who played better than Zalatoris in a couple of events in the fall, just had a bad day yesterday. His stroke average is 70, and he is one of the better players in college golf. He shot 79 yesterday including a 9 on a par 5. The round was an aberration. Third, in the Fall, WF won 2 of the 5 tournaments it played in, and finished 3rd in another. With Zalatoris, WF was top 10 team; maybe top 5. Zalatoris went pro because he had an opportunity to get into some PGA events early this season, not because of a concern about the WF golf team.

Alex Fitzpatrick (brother of Matt Fitzpatrick on the Euro tour) is currently in the final 8 for the U.S. Am being played at Pebble Beach. He is an incoming freshman for the Wake golf team. His brother did the Darren Clarke routine and only attended Northwestern for a semester. FS1 has been airing the matches, so something to watch today and also someone to pull for. Good luck, Alex.

If Fitzpatrick can hang against Cole Hammer today, then we know we have a player.

Wait, there's a women's collegiate golf tournament named after Hootie?

Yep.
He's a big golf fan and this is a very good tournament.

Yep. Wish Will could go back 9 months and take a different path. But, best of luck for him. 1 stroke off, wish he had made the cut yesterday.

When you are a professional golfer missing the cut is not playing well
