You'd think though if that were the case his opponent would've had to hit 2 OB before he would've conceded. One OB or lost ball and they guys still has is in the hole, even if barely.

If that was the case the card wouldnt have recorded a score for his opponent once he conceded. Having him down for 3 makes it read like he was in play and that Alex actually holed out for 2.

On the other hand, nothing on the usga twitter about it. Kinda odd.
 
Gillam goes down 3 and 2. Fitzpatrick should be teeing off now.
 
Fitz is in some trouble. Down 4 through 9 and he's actually playing pretty well. This 16 year old has birdied 5 holes on the front 9 of Pinehurst No. 2 playing from the U.S. Open tees. Let that sink in for a second.

That kid committed to LSU really early. They have low key become a major player in college golf the last decade.

Alex Fitzpatrick made the Walker Cup team for Great Britain and Ireland. Congrats, Alex!

Walker Cup will be played at Royal Liverpool on Sept 7-8.
