Role of the Media

Saw a good tweet today that said "This is like being a librarian and being fired for putting too many books on the shelves."

Conservative Law Professor Jack Goldsmith tweet about Trump:

1/ Trump’s actions since January, & especially in last month, take us so far beyond normal that it’s hard to have any faith in Exec branch."

more:
2/ In the last month alone he has told many lies, fired Comey related to Russia probe, dissed long-time allies, re-attacked courts,

7/ .@benjaminwittes took this view on 11-6: “DT does not enter office with a presumption of regularity in his work.”

8/ I don’t know about 11-6, but this view is certainly warranted now and has been for a while.

9/ One thing DT behavior entails (as predicted, https://www.lawfareblog.com/libertarian-panic-unlawful-action-and-trump-presidency …) is many losses in court, and not just on the immigration EOs.

LOL. White people are so scared of having to go through what minorities have gone through.

Yeah, fuck that. Good thing there's always Scandanavia we can move to.

The Jones-Kelly interview is an interesting topic as far as "role of the media" goes.

I see both sides. The point of journalism isn't to shield the reader/viewer, but instead is to look at the different stories and views out there. However, Alex Jones is pretty famous at this point. He doesn't need "introducing" to the audience and there is no more "getting to know the REAL Alex Jones" angle out there really.

If she is going to give Jones a platform, she needs to let a couple of the Sandy Hook parents a platform too. Continuing to present these guys anthologically rather than antagonistically is really a disservice that the press is doing IMO.

Also you need to cut through Jones the Infowars persona and get Jones what you really think. Bring up all the denial when finally called on the bullshit in court. You then have him either lying in court or telling the truth to a much larger audience than his infowars crowd, which is he is full of shit and manipulating the dumb as shit rubes for money.

Might be worthwhile for some of the Sandy Hook parents to find a legal strategy against Jones to at least get him under oath on some of this stuff. There's enough ridiculous BS that he's peddled to get past the initial motion to dismiss stage and into discovery if it's well thought out and appropriately pled.

His audience wouldn't care one bit if he's shown to be a liar. They'd blame the media even if a video of him in bed with ten naked 7 yo boys.

The issue isn't with what appeals to his current audience, it's about the potential of expanding his audience and following if Kelly does a glamour piece on him without presenting the opposing viewpoints.

right before TrumpCare unveiled

rubes see nothing to worry about, i'm sure

I would think that less than 5% of Trump supporters will read this bill (including Trump). Maybe it would be more if they added pics or put parts of it on the back of a Mountain Dew can.

right, but now reporters aren't allowed to even interview senators without theirs and the Rules' committee prior approval
