lol this is the absolute heart of the issue for conservatives

they've completely and utterly lost the culture war, and even with all three branches in their control, they can still play aggrieved at all times because it's harder to say merry christmas today

It’s just weird to me that the free market doesn’t extend to ideas. If conservative movies, tech companies, museums, etc. were desirable, then they would control those arenas too.

Indeed. They call liberals snowflakes, but they're the ultimate snowflakes. They say that liberals are hypersensitive and need to get a thicker skin, but they're the ultimate victims and cry (scream) foul at every opportunity. Their media outlets search for instructors at obscure community colleges who have said something nasty about right-wingers to publicize. You could say it's almost deplorable behavior, by at least half of them anyway

It's not like the internet, Hollywood or Silicon Valley create any jobs....

where is all the free hand/ private industry response to this crisis?

Besides all the closings? Several hallmarks of American capitalism have closed up shop. They acted before the federal government even got serious. Credit where credit is due.

Getting rid of Lee-Jackson Day while securing voting rights is a major win-win.

Yep. If the demographics of NC and GA continue to move in the direction they're going, maybe both of those states can start doing things like this within the next 10 to 20 years. VA has been ahead of them by about a decade or two in demographic change (urbanization, declining rural power, growing numbers of non-native residents, etc.)

Clearly a Northam administration would just be just like whatever troglodyte the Republicans nominated.

I think NC was ahead of VA for awhile, but took a major step back once the Republicans took over the General Assembly.

Politically NC has fallen behind, but the demographics are still changing and the rural areas are still losing ground to the more heavily Democratic cities. Eventually it will flip, although the NC GOP has done its best to move that day of reckoning back as far as possible.

That's why state legislatures that remain in Republican control solely due to gerrymandering are targeting voting rights. That's the next step of politicians picking their voters.

This announcement may literally break some of y'all's brains.
