Ongoing Dem Debacle Thread: Commander will kill us all

I'm not even saying that Bernie voters flipped to Trump, I'm just saying that many Bernie voters come from the same places as Trump voters, they voted for Obama in '12, and didn't vote for Hillary. Turnout was depressed across the board. Anyone claiming that Trump won by flipping Obama voters is full of shit IMO

Ongoing Dem Debacle Thread: Who's on the bench for 2020?

you don't think OWG the turn out would've been flamed higher with the threat of a true Communist? possible the lack Hillary the Criminal baggage may have helped offset that.

i'm just skeptical that enough people are buying that message

You are assuming OWGs weren't already turning out for the threat of a "true" communist.

By Democrats? Kinda. Really didn't matter because he wasn't Hillary.
By Republicans? All Democrats are the most liberal EVAR

I recall candidate Obama being the liberal alternative to Hillary, who's husband's Presidency was centrist (and she was well-known to be a key advisor in that administration). I thought (at the time) how Obama campaigned was as blatant as one could be if they wanted America to go far left. I didn't think full blown socialism had national appeal.

Then I saw Bernie.

I think the message would have been less anti-OWG with Bernie as the candidate than Hillary as the candidate. She couldn't decide if she wanted to court women's voters, educated voters, or high income voters the most. Instead she blandly courted all three and barely won any of them.
.

How exactly did she court high income voters?

You could bet your ass Bernie's honeymoon to Soviet Moscow would have been a tagline directed at that generation

Don't get support for Bernie as "not Hillary" confused with support for full blown socialism.

I don't see how anyone could have followed this insane election and claim to know what would have happened if the Dems nominated Bernie. Think of all the Breitbart alt-right hatred spread and imagine it being applied to a Jewish socialist lifelong politician who was secretive of his private life which included having a child out of wedlock.

Just typing that made me feel gross. I hate this election so much.

Yeah. The anti-Semitism would have been off the charts.

what anti-semitism?

Vandals destroy shop windows and graffiti anti-Semitic slurs in Philadelphia on 78th anniversary of Kristallnacht

"Sieg Heil 2016," read black letters, scrawled across a shop window in Philadelphia.

The Nazi-era phrase was written the day after Donald Trump won the presidency, and on the 78th anniversary of Kirstallnacht in Germany.

On 8 November 1938, fascists torched, vandalized and destroyed Jewish homes, shops and synagogues. They painted stars and racial slurs, broke windows and caused fear and panic as Hitler rose to power.

On a grey, damp day in November 2016, the vandalism on the streets of Philadelphia is a haunting reminder of the all too recent past. A vandal wrote a Nazi phrase in black spraypaint on the window of an abandoned fur shop on Broad Street, alongside a swastika...

Do you care to back this up?

bernie could have beaten trump

not sure he could have beaten basically any of the other 20 GOP guys that started the race who wouldn't have made it about populist issues

We will never know because he wouldn't fight for himself after Hillary cheated him out of the nomination. Must have been paid off by the Clinton Foundation and bought that $600,000 summer home with that money!

Gillibrand, Brown or even Kamala Harris.

Booker has Clinton-esque baggage, ego, and lack of political imagination. Might as well hand Trump a second term by nominating Booker.
