So how exactly did this happen?

No liberals created an environment where people voting for trump didn't want to admit it. They were tired of inaccurately being label as racist, or xenophobic, or misogynist, redneck trash, rubes, or whatever. When really they were just tired of voting for people and policies that failed to uphold there best interests, especially in the rust belt states.
Yeah maybe, but this doesn't look as good on a T-shirt as "Trump that Bitch"

Threats to limit guns? Surely you can't be serious.

If he could have gotten away with it, he would have done it.

All I have heard today from Liberals is their disbelief that this has happened. The reasons are right in front of their faces, but they don't want to see it. The two sides don't care to even understand what the other is thinking. Both would rather trash each other, instead of finding a place where they can even talk, much less come to any agreement.

Trump identified a fear in the middle class and lower middle class that other candidates failed to visualize, many of these were working class democrats and union members that felt left behind, forgotten ,and uncared for by the democratic elite( of which I guess I am one) and seized their pain and promised to rescue them. They swung the rust belt states for him. He can keep or lose this group if he fails to perform for them.

Built off the 2012 Romney map and focused on adding FL, OH, and PA. Saw some commonalities across OH, PA, MI, WI, and IA. Curious how he's going to bring manufacturing jobs back to the Midwest. Can relax/roll back stardards on coal, but the union auto jobs aren't coming back from SC and AL. Will probably use Pence to calm down evangelicals on social issues, but he probably knows all the Midwest Governors and could help there too.

HRC was a shitty candidate and her campaign was incredulous that she didn't have a walk over in the Obama 2012 states. As bad as it was, could have been worse if Trump hadn't alienated Latinos and Mormons in the West.

Trump got fewer votes in from a larger pool than Mitt got in 2012. Trump also got less than McCain did as well and only 400,000 than Kerry. You shouldn't lose to someone who got less votes than the previous three losing candidates.

Hillary lost this. When she had him reeling in late-August-September in October, she refused to go for the knockout punch. Why they didn't use Trump's own words about letting the auto industry die in the rust belt make no sense. Why they didn't attack Trump in PA,OH,WI, MI about using Chinese steel on many of his projects rather than US steel, made by US workers was also monumentally stupid.

They were too chickenshit to go after Trump when he was down. This isn't t-ball. You don't get participation trophies. When an opponent is down, knock them the fuck out. Don't dance around them and give them a chance to get up. A couple of people gave me crap for saying this then.

Hillary proved that she has no idea who to hire to run her campaigns.

This.

1) The people who voted this man in, in large part, don't have any idea what is going on. In interview after interview they couldn't articulate one fucking issue. IDGAF, they are idiots and a great many of them are deplorable as fuck. They are stinkin dirty rednecks without a lick of sense, and they hate blacks and fear foreigners. They believe whatever they are spoon fed by the magic TV set.

2)They cannot distinguish the difference between the Apprentice and reality, they cannot pull themselves away from television.

3) The media, whom these rubes are told over and over are "in the tank" for the dems, are "in the tank" for money. Trump was their best story in years and they put him on TV as if he were a valid candidate for president when he is really a showman, an actor, who brought them the ratings and revenue they needed at the expense of their customers well-being.

4) The rest of his voting bloc were informed Pubs who held their noses and voted for him because they want lower taxes and to save unborn babies.

Amazing how much money the stinkin dirty redneck rubes who cannot pull themselves away from television make, since Trump won with voters making $50-99K, $100-199K, $200-249K and over $250K. I think #4 is a really large part of his base. Pubs stayed home and he won among Independents.

So even talking about gun control after mass shootings is punishable? Jesus Christ. NRA folks have to be the most persecuted demographic in the country.

To people who have a vested interest in the second amendment, yes it is. Trump owes the NRA HUGE, they are one of the only big, old style conservative PAC's that really backed him.

Not wanting argue here. I'm just giving you what I think are the reasons for the Trump win. Not understanding the other side is the main reason.

Instead of bitching about republicans it's time people to a long hard look at themselves.

meh, I'm right though. And i can take being called names and stereotyped and labeled, like baby murderer, terrorist sympathizer, communist, socialist, JewSA, elitist, snob, queer lover, sinner, enabler-of-poor-people-to-get-votes, without casting a spite vote for a buffoon. I would take this loss to McCain or Romney gracefully but to lose to a Trump or a Palin in incomprehensible and stupid.

Ive never understood how the media is in the tank for Dems. Our win-loss record over the past 16 years is shitty. How have you arrived at that?

I'm so sick of hearing this. Trump voters can be tired of being called those things all they want but they aren't inaccurate. If you don't want to be labeled a sexist, racist, xenophobe or whatever else then stop being those things.

I am glad you can speak for all trump voters, how many trump voters do you know personally in order to make this assessment?

pushing through obamacare when he did is the thing that really killed any chance the democrats had of building a governing consensus.

Are you on record as busting on her before the returns came in? I have no idea--just curious.

Bro you casted your ballot for someone in 2016 that literally doesn't know how to use a desktop computer. You voted for a buffoon.

I know enough, met enough, seen enough, even attended a Trump rally. Trump himself is most of those things, why should I believe his supporters are any different?

Several people said I was wrong to say she should have gone after Trump much harder. Yes, I did say this m ore than once.

I have talked to a lot of folks who have voted on both sides of this election in the last 2 months. There are a lot more "God Fearing, church going people" in this country who don't appreciate getting labelled all those things in this country than you think. And they spoke during this election.

This is a very good point. In hindsight ramming Obamacare down everyones throats turned out to be a bad idea.

Bro? lol That shit is so fucking lame.

She has actually written legislation, made deals with sitting presidents and legislators. You know, done real work for government. Created policy that worked and was a compromise. She is a lot of things, but she is no buffoon.
