So how exactly did this happen?

It all seems so simple. Dems just didn't yell at white people enough. Going to need to step that up in 2020. Also, isn't anyone concerned about homophobia and misogyny? Is it just me or do we have a problem with systemic racism in this country? Obviously, Dems need to get to take the focus off skyrocketing health insurance costs, 2% economic growth and erosion of middle class jobs and maybe refocus on the government policy of talking about racial privilege.

Heaven forbid they do both.

Tradition, and more complicated and interesting the way it is now. Not really selling it.

Wasn't attempting to sell it. Just saying good luck undoing 230 years of constitutional history.

This happened because you cannot polish a turd.

Twice the $$ and first female.

Real question is whether criminal charges are next.
Trump rallies loudest cheer was "Lock her up."

The "everything is racism/sexism/etcism" wolf was cried to too many times and people just got sick of your petty bullshit and tuned it out altogether. The republicans did the same thing with the word socialist and we almost got Bernie out of it.

A white woman got millions fewer votes than a black man because white people got tired of being called racist? As much as you all want to diagnose this election as a referendum on political correctness, the facts don't back that up.

No prob. Just step your troll/hate-filled/vitriol spewing up. Think WakeandBake. He's a surefire jack ass but at least does it in a semi-convincing way.

That really hurts man you are one of my all time favorites and you have that super hip grateful dead avatar.

Obama didnt run on identity politics. He ran on his charisma and vision. And Romney was a huge, Hillary/Kerry-level, donk of a candidate.

Surprise, the Obama coalition that didnt show up yesterday (much of it not being white) or flipped their vote (a good number which was) wasn't inspired by "I'm a woman, and the other guy is a huge racist"

You can feel free to keep going to that well, no one is stopping you, but it was proven to not be a winning strategy. I'd suggest adjusting.

Romney lost in part b/c he was Mormon. Americans don't discriminate about who they discriminate against.

Noted. Please don't change a thing in 2020.

Trump got fewer votes than that Hillary/Kerry-level donk, a donk who also ran before that catalyst of oppressive political correctness.

Trumps game plan for the general was depressing turn out by dragging Hillary down into the muck with him. It worked because people dont turn out to vote against isms. They turn out to vote for something. Hillary was too busy running against isms and internet memes to actually run on anything.

Shit man now I feel bad. I was more ripping on that other dude and giving you an e-compliment. Go Deacs ! :koolaid:

Both candidates ran an electoral college campaign. If it were a popular vote, the campaigns would have been much different and I would expect the results the same. That being said, Im a popular vote guy. One man, one vote.

This might be the last gasp of the rural white voter who has become the forgotten man in the new global economy. And like it or not, Clinton ran a "Im not him" campaign with no vision. That hurt her. No inspiration at all.

I also think the Obamacare rate increases really hurt Clinton. Right or wrong, it was a solid talking point.

Its a shame as I think our country would benefit from a strong female president.

So much yes to the bolded part. I was struck by how much both campaigns really lacked the details in their proposals. Not that we aren't sold a bill of goods with manufactured details all the time anyway, but I digress.

It also cannot be overstated enough how much energy Trump showed on the trail. I had to remind myself that the dude is 70 years old like HRC. She looked like a 70 year old campaigning. He had the energy of an Obama circa 2008.

I absolutely agree that Hillary's lack of vision was uninspiring for Democrats, I just disagree that Republican turnout was bolstered by political correctness.

This seems like an odd position, given what everyone is saying.

If Trumps meager voter tally was indeed bolstered by anti-pc sentiment than his platform of reaching out to the working class with protectionism was far less convincing than anyone is letting on. It's a thin broth, it can only have so many ingredients.
