Two nooses were found hanging from trees were spotted in Jackson, MS today. Racism is not even trying to hide in MS.

The Anti-Defamation League documented a 57 percent surge in anti-Semitic incidents in 2017, especially at schools and on college campuses. Meanwhile, FBI statistics released this month show reported hate crimes jumped 17 percent last year.

That kid Fields (the Cville driver) trial is starting this week here. They started doing jury questions on Monday and are still at it. They've been interviewing 200+ potential juror members. Tough to find 16 (12 + 4 alternates) city folks who are going to approach the case with an open mind - or who at least will say they will. We have a good new city CA who is trying it for the city, and they have a good and experienced defense attorney for Fields. But they have a really difficult case. Not only do they have the 1 death, but there are umpteen malicious woulding charges as well and then a federal trial on the federal charges after that. So even if he were only to get 20 or so years on 2nd degree, all of those malicious wounding charges are also going to add up to a ton of time.

It's not in any article I can find, but apparently they were suspended from school for 10 days. Now a bunch of students are concerned with safety issues at the school.

Are we sure we should be giving Brett Favre so much benefit of the doubt? He is from Mississippi, played almost his whole career in Wisconsin, and sent unwanted dick pics to a reporter well before that was even really a thing.

They got Andy Dick and Soulja Boy too. Not being terribly bright seems like a decent defense in this case.
 
I can understand why someone (celebrity or otherwise) would believe that statement is a military shoutout and not a statement supporting white supremacy.

More seriously, exactly what are you and Connor proposing? Criminalizing speech and belief systems? To some extent, the cops, feds and the SPLC do monitor hate groups and their online activities. There is a pretty big difference between saying/writing that Jews and blacks are scum and deserve to die and actually doing what Fields and the Pittsburgh guy did. I know there is now a new left wing orthodoxy that does want to criminalize hate speech, but just remember we also have a current administration that would love to criminalize all sorts of liberal speech. This is why the ACLU has always been pretty absolutist when it comes to protecting any kind of speech - because the 1st kind of speech that most governments want to crack down on is left wing speech.
