Official Trump Swamp Thread: Still Corrupt as Fuck

Could you imagine being a career FSO, State Dep aid, or intelligence officer right now.

These people are getting attacked every day, their families threatened, and being told they are shit by the administration, all because they did their f----ing jobs. Now they are deep state or never trumpers, all because they did what they were told to do and report things that they knew weren´t right. Is Pompeo defending any of his people? Of course not. How about Gina? Nope, because then that would be admitting who the whistleblower works for. Can´t imagine what it is like for them and their families who are going to work every day in hardship posts around the world or in DC, morale must be absolute shit.

Welp, tearing down “government” and bureaucracy is always and ever a good thing...right?

Paying for an ambassadorship has been done by POTUS from both parties. It's not at all unusual.

What's so attractive about these ambassadorships?

Why would a rich guy pay $500K in hopes of being ambassador to the Bahamas instead of just vacationing there?

diplomatic immunity?

you get an expense account? you get to rub elbows with dignitaries?

Ambassador is a cool title?

Wealth has it's own immunity, accounts, and opportunities to rub elbows with dignitaries.

Ambassador is a cool title, though.

sure, but $500k is not that much money when we're talking about wealth. There are posters who could pony up $500k

It has to be asked, with $500k do you go with an ambassadorship or contribute to the pot for Manning buy-out?

He actually paid $1 million for the ambassadorship. His nomination got stalled in the Senate, the RNC asked for a $500K donation, and he suggested he would donate once the Senate moved his nomination forward. And he cc-ed staffers of Republican Senators on the email.

For many it is a prestige thing. For example, if you are Hedge fund or CEO of a major company, this is your chance to live overseas and be part of American foreign policy. Also for the rest of your life you are referred to as ambassador. Some see the financial benefits of it as well, giving you a couple of years to make important contacts in a foreign country. Some ambassadors will join boards in these countries after their term is done. The ambassadorship can also be used as a springboard to run for Congress or another administration position.

They get a big house, an important post, top secret clearance, can invite their friends and family over, and get to hobnob with the country elites. Its a pretty sweet gig, but costs a pretty penny.

An ambassadorship is a legacy that sticks with your family. It doesn't just mean that you're rich, but influential. When you hear that somoene's dad or granddad was an ambassador you raise an eyebrow and nod your head.

I like the sound of Ambassador Manchester Hall.

America doesn't have titles of nobility so political office titles are used as a substitute by the rich.

Trump press secretary faces backlash over claim that Obama aides left ‘you will fail’ notes

The White House is facing fresh allegations of dishonesty after press secretary Stephanie Grisham claimed without evidence that aides to former president Barack Obama left behind disparaging messages around the White House on the day President Trump was inaugurated.

During a radio interview Tuesday, Grisham said that White House aides left “Obama books” throughout the White House and taped a big “You will fail” sign on the door of the press office before Trump aides moved in — claims that sparked a chorus of condemnation from former Obama administration officials.

Grisham then modified her assertions later in the day, changing key parts of her story and saying she viewed the alleged conduct as little more than a harmless prank.

...

Grisham did not provide evidence to back up her allegations. No other administration official has made any similar allegations publicly in the 34 months since Trump entered the White House.

Five former senior administration officials present on Day One in 2017 said they do not remember witnessing or hearing of any notes like the ones that Grisham described.
