Trump's Bullshit Trade Tantrums

Just came on here to post this (also posted on another thread before seeing your post).

It's amazing how far the Republican Party has fallen.

Democrats should play that Reagan speech on social media and in television commercials. I'd enjoy watching Trump and Fox try to directly refute their idol's own words. Of course they would try, but it would be fun watching them make the attempt. And, yes, today's GOP would have been considered an extreme right fringe party in the 80s, even by people like Reagan. Although, I suspect that Reagan, whose "conservatism" was actually rather malleable, would probably have adjusted his rhetoric to suit the times.

Reagan played a part in that. If you can convince a party that some fellow Americans are “welfare queens” who are taking advantage of them, you can convince that party that non-Americans are taking advantage of American greatness.

Yep, where the GOP is today is the direct fruit of what Nixon started and Reagan accelerated. Reagan burst onto the national scene in '76 with the rallying cry against Linda Taylor, to original "welfare queen' who was charged with welfare fraud, claiming her "tax-free income" was over $150,000, when her actual charge was for $8k.

Couple that with the War on Drugs, and we have the intentional, racially-coded language of the lazy, dangerous underclass and "honest, hard-working Americans."

Right. And the whole purpose was to convince poor white people that they were better off with fewer government services to justify lowering taxes for the rich. But now some Republicans are pushing back because tariffs hurt their bottom line.

Reagan, actor in the Deep State. He was from Hollywood.

To put Trump's $50K in perspective, the five main stars of Big Bang Theory make $900K per episode.

actually it is, because it's a perfect market example of how worthless trump is compared to what he claims he is

I wonder if any country in history has created a trade war against a country with whom they have a trade surplus?

Has any country ever added a tariff to products when you have a trade surplus in those products with the country you are punishing?

What's even more amazing is that we have a raw dollars trade surplus in a major product group with a country who has 1/8 the population that we do. Think about that for a moment. We have more than 8 times the number of people than Canada, yet they buy billions of dollars more aluminum and steel from us than we do from them.

It's being reported that during a "heated" call with Justin Trudeau Trump said, "Didn't you guys burn down the WH?"

If I'm not mistaken, Canada didn't become a nation until the mid-1800s not 1812.

The British invaded the US, burned the WH in response to an American invasion of their colony which was a result of the impressment of US sailors into the Royal Navy to help maintain their blockade of US ally, France.

Haha Trump now doesn't want to go to the G-7 because he's a baby.

President Trump is planning to fly to Canada on Friday. He is not exactly happy about it.

The president has vented privately about Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as their trade tensions have spilled into public view. He has mused about finding new ways to punish the United States’ northern neighbor in recent days, frustrated with the country’s retaliatory trade moves.

And Trump has complained to aides about spending two days in Canada for a summit of world leaders, believing the trip is a distraction from his upcoming Singapore summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, according to three people familiar with Trump’s views.

In particular, the president said Tuesday to several advisers that he fears attending the Group of Seven summit in rural Charlevoix, Quebec, may not be a good use of his time because he is diametrically opposed on many key issues with his counterparts — and does not want to be lectured by them.

He seriously would rather go hang out with dictators and despots than with our allies.
