Trump's Bullshit Trade Tantrums

Oh great.

In its Global Economic Prospects report, the World Bank warns that tariff increases would have "severe consequences" for global trade and could cause a decline similar to that seen in 2008, or worse if tariffs are increased beyond the maximum level allowed by the World Trade Organization.

"A broad-based increase in tariffs worldwide would have major adverse consequences for global trade and activity," the report reads. "An escalation of tariffs up to legally-allowed bound rates could translate into a decline in global trade flows amounting to 9 percent, similar to the drop seen during the global financial crisis in 2008-09."

Everyone knows the World Bank is comprised of a bunch of hippie libs that only want to spread the wealth. FAKE!

I'd love to see Merkel and May knee Trump in the nuts during the photo op.

Trump is ranting that trade deficits equals the US "losing". By definition, a large country will normally have trade deficits with smaller countries. That's how it works if you don't slave labor like China.

Democrats can run on restoring trade relations with Canada, the UK, Japan, and the EU. That should be easy.

Democrats (leaders not voters) need to show a sense of urgency real soon. They are way too quiet right now.

Nothing galvanizes Republicans like the current Dem leaders talking.

The better strategy would be for Dem 2018 candidates to talk locally and nationally and for new leaders to emerge going into 2020.

Going to be interesting to see how Trumpist Republicans react when the entire free world stands in solidarity against Trump.
