Trump's Bullshit Trade Tantrums

Obama wanted us in, trump wanted us out. We have officially ceded the Pacific rim to China.

Which creates a problem the right won’t acknowledge until Biden can’t fix it.

You all were against TPP. This is the result.

SENATOR BERNIE SANDERS: THE TRANS-PACIFIC TRADE (TPP)
AGREEMENT MUST BE DEFEATED
The Trans-Pacific Partnership is a disastrous trade agreement designed to protect the interests of the largest
multi-national corporations at the expense of workers, consumers, the environment and the foundations of
American democracy. It will also negatively impact some of the poorest people in the world.
The TPP is a treaty that has been written behind closed doors by the corporate world. Incredibly, while Wall
Street, the pharmaceutical industry and major media companies have full knowledge as to what is in this treaty,
the American people and members of Congress do not. They have been locked out of the process.
Further, all Americans, regardless of political ideology, should be opposed to the “fast track” process which
would deny Congress the right to amend the treaty and represent their constituents’ interests.

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump both say they oppose TPP. It's one of the few issues on which they are in agreement. Notably, both oppose the deal at a time when protectionism has grown quite popular stateside as American workers continue to worry about losing jobs to other countries.

President Obama has made TPP a priority for his final months in office, and is hoping he can push it through Congress with the help of pro-trade Republicans like John Kasich and Mitch McConnell. But the deal has plenty of detractors.

No based it on Clitnon support and Bernie support here.

People tried to lie and blame this on Republicans. You lie.

Did you support TPP? I did.

Yeah you know me!

Glad you did. Sadly, in 2016 many candidates did not.

If this was an idiotic Naught by Nature quote, well then you're an ass.

Bernie wanted to put workers rights and environmental protections in to the trade deal. He wanted leverage the immensity of the American economy to change the TPP before signing on. He would have worked to renegotiate and Clinton latched on to that idea. Trump pulled out with out a plan. Like everything he does has had no plan.

NBC News article about how farmers a faring better under Biden than Trump.

"Donald Trump often espoused his love for America's farmers during his presidency. But after a year under President Joe Biden, farmers say they're actually feeling the love.

"Well, certainly the difference between 2019 and 2021 is the differences in administrations," Montana Farmers Union President Walter Schweitzer said in an interview. "In 2019, our administration was at war with all of our customers." Under Biden, he said, the nation is "rebuilding our relationships with our customers." Biden has tried to address nagging supply chain issues in hopes of boosting profits for family farms and lowering prices for consumers. "I think the real optimism in agriculture is that we've got a president that is willing to stand up to these corporate monopolies and tell them 'enough is enough.' You need to play fairly, you need to share your profits," Schweitzer said.

I also found this comment from Trump interesting - "Trump courted support from farmers during his failed re-election campaign in 2020 and touted his administration’s trade relief, saying they were better off with government payments than relying solely on sales." That sounds awfully socialist to me.
