Trump's Bullshit Trade Tantrums

Trying to figure out when this all comes home to roost. Already hedging my bets in the market a bit.

Trump asks for $15B to protect farmers from impact of trade war with China

Trump’s trade approach under attack as China retaliates on tariffs; markets open with big sell-off

“The costs of U.S. tariffs have fallen entirely on U.S. businesses and households, with no clear reduction in the prices charged by Chinese exporters,” Goldman Sachs analysts wrote in a note to investors Monday. It also said “the effects of the tariffs have spilled over noticeably to the prices charged by US producers competing with tariff-affected goods.”

Any conservatives out there supporting this trade war should be ashamed of themselves. Out of everything Trump has done since taking office this is by far the most egregious.

Socialist handouts!

Yep. The party that hates Socialism is giving government taxpayer-funded goodies to GOP-loving farmers to protect them from the effects of the trade war their beloved leader started. It's almost like they love socialism as long as it's helping people like them. I still remember some right-wingers in the NC GOP legislature proposing a few years ago to "redistribute" some of the wealth from the state's growing, prospering urban counties to the dying rural counties across the state. They wouldn't call it socialism, though that's exactly what it was, it had some other name if I remember correctly. LOL.

Agreed unethical trade tariffs, are some of the classic first steps of oppressive socialist regimes. Any fiscal conservative has to be outspoken against this.

Maybe they’re just setting up for some hybrid model of crony capitalism and socialism for rural white people. We need to look at where the money is going.

They didn't just propose it, they did it by changing the rules for how sales tax is redistributed. they called it "fairness".

Who cares if it's successful as long as Trump is paying you off.

Another article on how farmers are "starting to lose hope" that Trump's trade war will be successful and that their losses will end soon. I wonder how many of them voted for Trump last time, and will do so again next year (while staring bankruptcy in the face?)

IA farmers went big time for Trump. That was the biggest Pub win there in some time. I forget where it was, but there was a piece a week or 2 ago on how IA really bought into his anti-immigrant message. I'm interested in seeing what IA looks like in 2020 - will they vote social issues or pocketbook? Whatever IA does, I don't expect MN will be that close and think WI will become blue again.

Are you saying Trump and GOP hoodwinked a bunch of hayseeds to line their pockets?

say it isn't so, man!

Once they start thinking about all the unborn babies they are saving, the farmers will suck it up as a patriotic sacrifice for god and pull the lever for Trump.
