Trump's Bullshit Trade Tantrums

Well it’ll certainly look embarrassing for him when US companies ignore that (snort) “order.” But can you really embarrass that which has no shame?
 
I know this isn't strictly trade, but Trump has gotten MLB to kowtow to him and ban all players from playing in the Venezuelan winter league.

What an asshole wuss Trump is!
 
Someone should put a gag in Trump's mouth every time he talks about trade. He truly believes that somewhere if the US has a trade deficit with a country a check is cut from the treasury.

It's moronic to think that there's a rational scenario where we would have equal trade with Japan. We have more than 250% the population of Japan. For it ever to be equal each Japanese person would have to buy 250% more than his/her American counterpart. To think that's even possible is insanity.

This is not even bringing into consideration cultural differences.

One of two things gonna happen, probably.

1. The trade war lingers on, escalating intermittently and harming both China and the US.

2. We make some BS new “deal” that’s not really much better (or even worse) than whatever we had and Trump declares a great victory, confirming his “genius” in the minds of 38 percent of our folks.
 
The Chinese are likely to play Trump through the election. They are in it for the long haul and see Trump as a bump in the road.

Oh definitely #2. And it will be worse.

That’s Trump’s MO. Set the house on fire, put it out and then claim he’s a hero.

Look at the positions where in today:

1. North Korea (Trump escalates, claims all is well after no war breaks out...yet NK has only advanced their nuclear capabilities)
2. Iran (Trump tears up the nuclear deal, claims Iran will respect us yet Iran has restarted its nuclear program and is now terrorizing ships in the strait of Hormuz)
3. China Trade (Trump slaps some tariffs, says trade wars are easy to win and now we are on the brink of a recession)
4. Healthcare (Trump promises cheap healthcare for all, tries to blow up Obamacare (and failed) and healthcare rates are still going up)
5. The Swamp (Trump bases his entire campaign on fighting corruption and he’s created arguably the most corrupt administration in presidential history)

I could go on and on.

The guy is so fucking out of his league on both the world stage and at home, it’s not even funny. Yet Trumpist rubes still claim he’s a genius mastermind playing 13-dimensional chess.

3. Trade deficit is ballooning!
 
The Chinese are likely to threaten more and more tariffs. The worse they make it for Trump's supporters. The more they get out of him next year. The Chinese own Trump almost as much as Putin does.
 
I see Xi putting the screws to Trump. This is a dangerous game of chicken.

Sure. But the majority of the top 5 Dems were also against the TPP and generally oppose free trade. So it looks like we'll have few new trade agreements and maybe more tariff wars even if the blue team wins.
