Middle East: Saudis Murder & Dismember Washington Post Contributor

I doubt it would be a big deal either way. This administration hates Muslims and the press.

Yea, but "we" seem top hate Iran additionally or especially. So likely it'd be an excuse for some action against them.

Saudi? Not nearly as clear if "we" will care to act. Most likely the poor journalist will simply never be traced and so "we" will have cover for our callous inaction (assuming he's gone for good). "The Saudis deny they had anything to do with his disappearance--and they deny it strongly!"

[easy, sadly, to imagine our dear leader feeling jealous of another country/leader being able to make a nemesis journalist disappear]

Tim cares..and as with all leftists he only cares about the politics.

Tim Kaine says “this must stop!” and the laughter ensues..this is good theater and an attempt to get back at MBS. Afterall, the Crowm Prince just hung all the Dirty Dems’ ‘sponsors’ upside down from the ceiling at the Riyadh Hilton

:) Al-Waleed plays the part of the smarmy cartoon con with formerly large positions in Citi Group and Twitter. (Jamie D and Jack are all up the wazoo of the Mideast Kazoo.

—- so MBS shakes down the jackals who’ve been usurping from the state’s coffers. He is effectively draining the oasis.. :)

But really, Senator Kaine..”this has to stop!” Really, Tim?

How about one word, Senator..about the weekend shooting of the 18th Mexican Journalist killed over the last year?

Yea..and how about Recep Erdogan..what a piece of work. Is it any wonder that he is scorned from Charlie Hedbo to Bild? Europeans routinely see his caricature with a pecker sticking out of any available orifice. He is a Fascist Pig who reminds many of a new age Benito

Go Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed Bin Salmon!

M-SAGA and Drain the Oasis.

An Oasis, you ask? That seems contrary. But this band of princes embodied every aspect of French styled decadence. Jet-set State-sponsored oil magnates running wine, women and song at a dizzying clip. Alas, it wasn’t Solomon or a Proverb that took them down but rather the Saudi Prince of their Reformation, Mohammed Bin Salman.

A real chance for Saudi Arabia..one only hopes the cynical left won’t take up the position that he is not moving fast enough. Particularly since American politicos have not made much commentary over the previous 3 decades of social inaction in Saudi Arabia.

As for MBS and the beginning of reform:

Indeed, a woman driving a car or having eased restrictions concerning headwear..or the introduction of western art, drama and comedy..these are very big steps in what is the infancy of what will be the long journey of wrestling Saudi Arabia away from its Salafist tendencies.

And they pulled it off for a number of years with a mirage created by a co-opted media.

First rule of thumb?

If Turkey’s Erdogan makes a claim..be exceptionally wary. Particularly when considering Saudi intelligence trains with Mossad. This is some ham-fisted work for pros. Everything about it stinks starting with Recep

"Except for Erdogan over here. He does things the right way." -Donald J. Trump

“It’s a great honor and privilege — because he’s become a friend of mine — to introduce President Erdogan of Turkey,” Trump told reporters. “He’s running a very difficult part of the world. He’s involved very, very strongly and, frankly, he’s getting very high marks.”

Saudi Story About Journalist Jamal Khashoggi Doesn’t Hold Up, Says Bob Corker: ‘Everything Points’ to Murder

Critics of Saudi regime are at risk – wherever they may be

The heightened response to criticism, internally and abroad, is widely considered the work of Saudi Arabia’s de facto ruler, crown prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The youngest man to run his oil-rich desert kingdom in decades, he carefully crafted an image as a modernising reformer as he rose to power. He has loosened rigid social controls, curbed the reach of the conservative clergy and promised to diversify the oil-dependent economy.

But he has also made clear that his appetite for change does not extend to politics. There are no plans to dilute the power of one of the world’s few remaining absolute monarchies.

When he lifted the ban on female drivers but arrested the women who had campaigned for that change, Bin Salman made clear he will only tolerate change directed by and credited to the government.
