Wake Forest Football Recruiting

Gonzaga plays in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC), and the league is stacked in both football and basketball. Right now, 3 WCAC teams, #3 (Fairfax Paul VI), #8 (Gonzaga) and #18 (DeMatha), are ranked in the national top 25 in boys basketball; pretty much every starter (that qualifies) in that league will play D-1 basketball. It's the same deal in football. The WCAC high schools relentlessly recruit the best HS football and basketball talent in the DC area and produce multiple high D1 players every year.
 
Any potential surprises tomorrow on NSD? Bizarre how quiet it is with the early signing period.

On the national front, UGA and OSU battling it out for the top class. Looks like OSU is going to get 5* number 1 ranked OT Nicholas Petit-Frere to commit out of Florida over UF, ND, and Bama in a huge coup. UGA still likely to end up #1 after they get #2 CB Tyson Campbell and a couple others. Expect a Biff sighting soon.

Marquis Alston, Jr. officially signed with Wake this morning. Other than that I don't think there is anything else to be expected today. We have signed everybody we have committed through both periods and unless we get good news we are done. Great place to be in.
 
Didn’t know you could officially sign the LOI as a Junior.

Nice to have such a calm NSD.
No drama, no negative surprises.
Got a very good class which should contribute lots in years to come.
 
No mention of the signing on the official Wake site as of noon today (Feb 7, 2018). Would have thought the signing would have warranted at least a mention. Something like "Deacs add one more..." Add in a few quotes about why he picked Wake, and maybe why he waited - if that is a good story.

Would also be an opportunity to recap the early signees and put a little more pub out there to encourage guys from 2019 to see that Wake is a good place to go.
 
Not the official site obviously but we bumped our ESD article and also wrote on Alston, as well as a brief recap/what to expect today at BSD.

Something like that is what I would expect from Wake athletics once the LOI has officially received. Something about the latest signee and then segue into the stuff about the early signees.
 
They should have a press release coming at some point today but I have not seen anything on it yet from the official site.
