Wake Forest Football Recruiting

Actually not really. They are small for a 4A school.

Yeah, I was covering high schools during last realignment cycle. Cardinal Gibbons was 3-A but appealed to move up, which was granted because something like 95% of enrollment plays at least one sport.

FWIW, the December signing window for D1 Football is next week (December 18 to December 20).

For those that don't sign during that three day period, the next window opens on February 5, 2020.

Hopefully we get all our guys signed early like (I believe) we did last year.

Wake commit JJ Roberts has been named Gatorade Player of the Year in West Virginia

And yet he’s rated a 2-3 star. Obviously, the star ratings aren’t worth much.
Great accomplishment for JJ and great news for us.

Or maybe there's not a lot of talent in WV this year and winning honors is political.

My guess - and hope- is he is a very good player who is undersized and will need to grow and mature physically looking at height and weight. Obviously, he has produced on the field. Our staff, our recruiting and ultimately rests on finding this type of talent. The recruiting industry is not in business for looking at developmental players or hawking their wares to schools with smaller fan bases and less buying power as has been debated to death. Looking forward to seeing JJ play for us.

He's the 4th highest rated prospect in WV beside a C and DE going to WV and a RB leaning to State. I don't think this is a recruiting services fail.

41 inch vertical leap is pretty crazy for Roberts. Shows some serious athleticism. Needs to improve on that 4.68 40 time and beef up from 170 lbs, and he'll be a good one.

He ran a 4.01 shuttle (which IF correct is blazing fast) and his 40 time was 4.57, which if the shuttle time is correct should be much faster so one of the times is off. To give another example, Cooley ran a 4.51 40 and has a 4.2 shuttle time.

Going to be tough probably to pull in Micah Crowell 4* WR from East Forsyth was really wanting him. Got offers from everybody as they get set to play Cardinal Gibbons for the State title

He's had offers from everybody for a while, there's nothing new. There are a few 2021 WRs that all look like they could be good on the outside, Crowell, but also Walker Merrill, Josh Burrell, and JJ Jones. Only need 1 to commit.

He also hasn't played all year because of a knee injury.
