Wake Forest Football Recruiting

This guy seems more like Donald Stewart than Miles Fox as far as grad transfers go.

I think Turner will be splitting carries with CBS next season as the 1B back. We’ll see, but I think this guy is going the be a huge contributor.

I have two close friends who are Michigan fans. Both think he will be really solid for us and thought he should have received more carries at UM.

Here is a breakdown of the states Wake has most heavily recruited over the last 5 years and how many recruits we got from each of those states

2021 - 2020 - 2019 - 2018- 2017- 2016

FL 38/1 - 33/ 2- 33/2 - 51/5 - 40/1 - 44/3

NC 35/4 - 27/6 - 31/5 - 27/3 - 26/5 - 36/4

GA 25/3 - 32/1 - 46/3 - 57/7 - 63/6 - 52/4

MD 12/2 - 9/2 - 5/0 - 7/1 - 12/1 - 20/1

VA 11/2 - 13/4 - 14/3 - 12/0 - 17/0 - 29/5

TN 9/0 - 12/0 - 6/2 - 6/0 - 8/1 - 4/1

SC 7/ 2 - 10/0 - 11/3 - 15/4 - 6/0 - 11/2

PA 6/0 - 1/1 - 4/0 - 3/0 - 4/1 - 10/0

Al 5/1 - 3/0 - 10/0 - 7/0 - 13/0 - 5/0

NJ 5/1 - 8/1 - 8/2 - 5/0 - 6/1 - 11/0

CT 4/1 - 0/0 - 0/0 - 1/1 - 0/0 - 2/0

LA 4/0 - 4/1 - 0/0 - 4/0 - 3/1 - 5/0

OH 4/0 - 10/1 - 2/0 - 3/0 - 7/0 - 10/1

TX 4/1 - 5/0 - 2/1 - 3/0 - 5/1 - 5/0

NC, GA and FL are by far the most heavily recruited. SC, MD and VA seem to be some of our most successful. The focus on OH and AL seems to ebb and flow the most.

You'd think that an athletic department that is bleeding cash would think twice about investing $70,000 on a guy with 5 catches last year and 19 catches in 5 years.....

the incremental cost is not really that high - sure, you have to feed and house him for one semester, but in terms of tuition, he'll just slot into 3-4 classes at the expense of a paying customer who will then have to take a backup option or take another seat

But how is "cost" allocated to the football program for student athletes?. The Deacon Club funds the scholarships, not the University. Does the University differentiate between the cost of a student athlete and a regular student? I was pretty sure the university took its pound of flesh whether it was a student athlete or some dorky Theta Chi....

21 catches in two years, good size, former low 3-star recruit, underwhelming offer list. Staff must see something they like.

Looks like he may have 2 years of eligibility

should have 3 since 2020 doesn't count against the clock, same class as Greene/Groulx

Wake was careful with their guys to have them play no more than four games so as to not burn a year of eligibility in 18. Was Illinois so careful in either 18 or 19, so he has three years remaining?

Greene and Groulx should have four years remaining. One redshirt. One year that doesn't count.
