2017 Atlanta Braves Offseason Thread: Acuna #1 by multiple sources

Camargo hurt himself jumping the chalk as he came onto the field and had to be carried off. Wow.

Phillies called up their "first baseman of the future," Rhys Hoskins, and promptly put him in left field. That gets him some at bats against major league pitching.

Meanwhile, Tommy Joseph, first baseman of the now future is having a rough year. He's only hitting for power and not fielding that well. He's still learning first after being converted from catcher.

This second half of the season is really making me feel like the braves are still 2-3 years away from getting back into contention.

We need two of Wright, Gohara, Soroka, or Allard to be better than average. Folty and Newk both look like guys who will be frustratingly inconsistent.

Currently, the entire pitching staff as a whole is ungood

Hitting up Suntrust for the first time tomorrow. Also starting to think that it could be beneficial to sign Philips for a couple more years to play 3rd.

They just put up Markakis' numbers compared to JHey's over the last 3 years. Nick is beating him substantially in everything but homers where JHey has a small lead. Markakis had made almost 30 million less. I still don't understand that contract Heyward got.

John Collins interviewed during tonight's broadcast

Snitker on third base: "“Starting Monday we’re going to have a bunch of people that we can maneuver around third base,” Snitker said. “We get Camargo back, Adonis comes back, Danny’s played there, so we have a lot of options."

For God's sake, Twitker, this should be a no brainer.

The Braves need a managerial upgrade as much as anything this off season. Snit should be moved into one of those vague organizational jobs as a reward for his service. Wouldn't mind seeing Ron Washington at the helm next year.

Gohara to make his debut tonight. We got him & Thomas Burrows (who had an excellent season out of the pen in Rome) from Seattle for Mallex Smith who was promptly traded for Drew Smyly. Smyly ended up needing TJS before he even made a start for the Ms.

Gohara started the season in A+ with 7 stars, made 11 starts in AA, and 7 in AAA. He's rocketed up prospect charts this season. Can have some control problems but his peripherals (FIP, xFIP) are very strong.

Gohara could be really good if he can stay healthy. No surprise, both extra base hits would have been caught by an average left fielder.
