OFFICIAL 2017 WORLD SERIES L.A. DODGERS VS. ASTROS THREAD

Nats just promoted uber-OF prospect Victor Robles.

While exciting to see Robles for Nats fans, the move only makes sense if the Nats are starting to think that Harper may not be ready to play by October.

I don't follow your logic; the minor league season is over and a September callup will not accelerate the arbitration clock

what is the downside to bringing him up?

Victor Robles is 20 and was not on the Nats 40 man roster, and did not need to be placed on the MLB roster to be protected. Unlike minor leaguers that are already on the 40 man roster, the Nats had to place Robles on the MLB roster which means he has to stay on the roster for the next six years or they have to expose him to waivers (which they will not do); also, September time does count as MLB service time for free agent eligibility. The Nats were not planning to move Robles up to the MLB roster in 2017. The earliest that they would have done so would've been June 2018.

hadn't considered the 40-man roster issue

still, must be nice to be a fan of team that tries to win

Or they're punishing him for his new haircut

Too late for him to be eligible for post season play.

All the Nats beat reporters seem to think it has more to do with Brian Goodwin's delayed return than anything to do with Harper. Right now I'm more concerned about Harper's cornrows than his knee.

Also if he tears his ACL or something like that, he stays on major league dl which runs his arbitration clock and service time clock.

Love watching the Dodgers flounder. Their one win in the last 13 games was a 1-0 squeaker over the lowly Padres. Kershaw got hammered last night. Realize that they are playing out the string, but man, they are playing awful baseball after a historic run.

And the Snakes have won 13 straight, and are still double digits behind them. Very weird.

Playoffs if season ended today:

Cubs-Nats
Dodgers-(Diamondbacks/Rockies)

Red Sox-Indians
Astros-(Yankees/Twins)

Would be one hell of a playoffs with "traditional" Cubs, Dodgers, Red Sox, Yankees, and Indians as well as the late season storylines with Harper and long win/loss streaks

Jerry Remy back in the booth for the Red Sox tonight. He's gonna do home games for the rest of the season outside of treatment days. The way he talks about it I'm not sure he sees next season

Cleveland has overtaken Houston for the top spot in the AL. Just an insane run they're on right now.

Nats clinch their division yesterday with a win over the Phils last night and the Braves beating the Marlins. Now they have to decide if they want to try to catch the Dodgers for best record in NL or just rest everybody until playoffs.

Dodgers lose again. 11 in a row. Game didn't finish until 2:11 am PST.

Longest regular season losing streak for the World Series Champ is 9 games by the 1953 Yankees. Next longest losing streak by the W-S Champ is 7 games. LAD has fallen, and it can't get up.

No curse like the Biff curse. Even stronger than the Billy Goat

So is there going to be a Brad Pitt movie about the Indians now? If so, I nominate this guy to play Tito:

Rhys Hoskins has slowed down a bit. Now at 16 HRs in 32 games. He is 6th in fWAR for rookies.

Also Nick Williams hit a walk off double last night. He's doing pretty OK too.

Hoskins still on a pace that would be record setting. With the slowdown, probably some pitchers have figured out what (not) to throw to him if they want to see that particular baseball again.
