Official KY Derby Thread with post positions

There is a tradition at the KY Derby that all of the hookers with breast implants wear ridiculous hats and show off with their best johns. The big building behind the stands is filled with sex rooms.

Most people don't know this but the site of the derby used to be a stable for horses with special needs, funded by Winston Churchills family, which is where the name Churchill Downs came from.

My bad. Race has not actually started. I saw all those numbers and thought that was the score.

Fuq, horse cost me $15. May be fast on the track but bet it's super slow waking through the airport.

Not sure what I would have done without this official thread to guide me. Very useful.

Heading to Louisville with 14 other degenerates (Including Manifest) for my bachelor party.

Who should we bet on? Any can't miss Derby day activities?

Are you getting to L'ville early on Friday? If so, you should drive over to the Lexington area and do the Bourbon Trail.

This year's 3 yo class seems to have a bunch of very good horses but no superstars yet. Justify, McKinsie, Audible and Magnum Moon seem to have a chance to become top level horses. Bolt D'Oro started his career like a world-beater but has come up just short since then.

Don't be sucked in by Mendelssohn's 18+ length win in Dubai. We have no idea who those other horses were. They have been bringing horses from that race to the Derby for nearly twenty years. If I'm not mistaken, 8th is best finish. Granted, no one won that easily. Something else to think about is that the older horses who run in the Dubai Gold Cup on the same day as the 3yos is that the older horses rarely start running in the US until mid-late June. The trip is just too tough. If Mendelssohn wins, he's likely to win the Triple Crown as he will have proven to be very special.

Take a look here to learn about the horses. https://www.kentuckyderby.com/horses/leaderboard

If you click on the horse, you can learn more about them. If you go to their races and click on each, you can watch their previous races.

I might like Good Magic in the exotics, but he doesn't look like a winner. Noble Indy barely beat a bad field in Louisiana.

Let's see the post positions and see who actually runs.

Had a fun weekend in Lexington last weekend. Too bad you didn't have this planned a few months ago. Keeneland has an amazing party for the Derby, but it's sold out and has a waiting list.

Brasky, you're gonna have a great time. Just don't let the horse race itself guide your weekend too much. You're not going to see the race. Don't take any money with you, you'll just spend it. Let your bros pay for everything and bet on the horses for you.

Thanks bros. Getting into Louisville late Thursday night (flying into Cincy, rented a car in order to save $500+ on flights), we're staying at an AirBnB 0.5 mile from Churchill Downs.

Good advice about not bringing any cash, because I totally will spend it. Should we head to the Indiana casino on Friday night, or skip it? We have a late dinner downtown and then the rest of the night is wide open. We've got two Louisville distillery tours set up for earlier Friday.

Obviously all of Saturday will be spent at the track. Luckily Manifest talked me out of slumming it in the infield, and got us boxes in the grandstand. We are going to rage so fucking hard.

There's a lot of money in horse racing and one of these horses flies to Dubai and back to race. He gets kind of jet lagged though and is usually sluggish in his next race back. His owners DGAF and tell him he's going to the glue factory if he doesn't come up with a million dollars by Saturday.

Overseas/Europe horses have never won the Derby so it looks like Mendelssohn is out even though 5-1.

Do you believe in the "Apollo Curse"? No horse since Apollo in 1882 has won the Derby without racing as a 2 year old. The favorite, Justify at 3-1 & Magnum Moon at 6-1 are both in that category.

Todd Pletcher has 4 good horses in the field--Magnum Moon, Audible, Vini Rosso & Noble Indy. Baffert has 2 entries--Justify & 30-1 shot Solomini. Watch out for My Boy Jack at 30-1, trained & ridden by Desormeaux's.
