Spurs Thread

RJ, here is the full text of the article with the relevant parts bolded.

And again, my claim is that (and always has been) that under current tax law, the Clippers can offer CP3 $35 million more in guaranteed money after taxes than any Texas team can.

Read it one more time and see if you can prove to us that you aren't an idiot and that you have an ounce of humility.

READ the last line of what you copied:

"Is the chance to start anew with the best franchise in the sport worth walking away from $19 million?"

Like you have done for all the time you have been here, when confronted with your own mistakes, you start name calling. Oh well, you haven't grown up at all. Sad.

reading this argument is like watching zaza take out kawhi all over again.

Thank God, now this argument can end.

Texas tax rates or California cash?

That's factoring in endorsements and a tax change that hasn't happened (and is unlikely to IMO).

I will clarify that the $35 million number is the difference between the two contracts after state taxes, which for some reason is all this article talks about.

It's done- to Rockets- STEAL-

Beverly, Lou Williams, Sam Dekker and next year's 1st round pick.

Spurs No Longer Seriously Looking at Acquiring CP3 per ESPN

Traded to rockets

So presumably this is a "sign and trade" deal because it had been previously reported that CP3 had opted out of his current deal with the Clippers. There is a hill to climb in Houston. Finished 6 games behind the spurs and 12 behind GS, and only 4 games better than the Clips.

no, CP said he was going to opt out and leave and the clippers said if he opted in they'd trade him where he wanted to go so he could keep his bird rights and they could get something back. actually decent haul for the Logo for a player that was leaving anyway.

What's odd about that article, and what I should have caught the first time, is that it doesn't point out the difference in the contracts after accounting for federal income tax.

If you live in Texas and pay at the highest tax rate you get to keep 60% of the money you earn. If you live in CA you get to keep 52% of the money you earn. If the deduction for state income tax were eliminated that falls to 47%.

So in the extreme scenario the article presents (Including $8 mil per year in endorsements) CP3 could keep 47% of $240 million ($113 million) staying in CA or 60% of $182 million ($109 million). Meaning the difference in net earnings would be less than $5 million.

Or he could be a genius and keep 60% of $240million ($144 million).

LOL. The Spurs be like "we've already got an old."

All Smoke the Spurs were never serious about CP3

Jeff Goodman of ESPN shared word from a source who said the Spurs "didn't show significant interest" in Paul before the deal to Houston as the team has an "aging point guard" in Tony Parker.
