What's the nicest watch you own?

I got an Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra a couple weeks ago. I have my dad's Ebel, but the Omega is a big step up.

No judgment, but I just can't even imagine walking around with a $5,000 watch on my wrist.

It's a pretty incredible device when you really think about it. And it looks cool. I didn't want to buy something that was too flashy, and I didn't want to pay a bunch of money just to have a Rolex logo. I'm happy with it.

What's incredible about it? Does it do something other than keep the time and look cool?

I'm not trying to be a jerk, I just don't know that much about it.

The mechanics inside watches that allow them to keep time are admittedly pretty amazing.

Yeah I’ve become pretty fascinated by the mechanics of a device that can keep time so precisely without a battery or even winding, all while being submersible to 150 meters and resistant to magnets. It might not add a great functional benefit to my life, but it’s still really cool.

Are they more accurate than the cell phone Verizon gave me?

To be fair, the guts inside your cell phone that allow it to keep accurate time is also pretty incredible. But computer chips aren’t as aesthetically pleasing as tiny gears and springs.

he's right, the technology of precision timekeeping really is a human marvel

I like my Seiko SKX007J and since it's been discontinued its value is increasing so there's that.

Congrats on the Omega.

Yeah I don't understand the bewilderment over enjoying a precision timepiece. I think watch movement and design is fascinating too. It's not just about knowing what time it is, its about appreciating craftsmanship and engineering. This bewilderment coming from guys who spend inordinate amounts of time and money watching sports, playing video games, and jacking off to internet porn. :noidea:

Want to see this is person. <$700, think the quartz is <$400. Love the dial.

Nicest I own is probably this one that I inherited from my father-in-law

My every day nice one is this one. I switched out the sport band for stainless steel though. My wife actually won it at a spin fundraiser. "Congrats? You win a Tag.....for your husband."
