Official 2017 College football thread

The "U" in UNC wasn't used for alphabetizing I guess because they are no longer considered a University with all the cheating and fake classes.

UNC = University of No Classes

Just FYI: Ara Parseghian passed away.

His 9-0-1 national championship Notre Dame team gave up 38 points all SEASON. For the non-math majors, that's giving up 3.8 points per game. I wish I were alive to see that cold, defensive battle at Michigan State that year.

A legend.

If that had been WF against Michigan State, it would be considered another of the 10 Worst Football Games in History.

^not even the best Chubb in the southeast

Based upon the ESPN Poll WF plays:

#3
#5
#17
#30
#33
#41
#43
#54

WF opens the year versus 3 opponents that didn't receive votes, but then plays 8 straight weeks against teams receiving votes (not sure how or why Cuse received 3 votes), and then finishes the year versus Duke.

WF has a stretch where it plays:

#3
#5
#17
#43
#30

consecutively with 3 of those 5 on the road.

So let's win 3 of those 5

(I know, irrational optimism ......but it's pre-season and we're undefeated so far)

Interested to see how long Clemson sticks with Kelley Bryant at QB. He's just not a good QB throwing the football and I think he's going to severely impact how explosive they will be on offense. The other option is a true freshman. Going to be quite a change after the QB skill they have enjoyed the last 5 years or so.

Isn't the true freshman an uber stud prospect?

The true freshman is a really good prospect, but the super stud Trevor Lawrence is still a year away from being on campus. I don't think Hunter Johnson (think that's the current freshman) is ready for ACC play yet

Why would I buy ACCCG tickets? States finishing third in the Atlantic with a win over Clemson or Louisville at home but a loss to Cuse and someone average in the Coastal that's not UNC.

It's almost mid-July and the college football newsletters are starting up and College Sirius is already talking about all the big games on Opening Weekend. Let's take a look at a few and the openings from out in the Desert:

Saturday Sept 2
BYU vs LSU [-11] in Houston
Temple @ Notre Dame [-13]
App St @ UGa [-14]
SC vs NC State [-5] in Charlotte
Michigan [-4] vs Florida at Jerry's World
FSU vs Bama [-4] in Atlanta

Sunday Sept 3
West Virginia vs Virginia Tech [-4] in Landover, MD
Texas A & M @ UCLA [-3.5]

Monday Sept 4
UT [-3.5] vs GT in Atlanta

You forgot that's Indiana hosts OSU on Thursday 8/31. Of course OSU should win comfortably but it could be a sneaky good game. IU returns 9 starters from a good defense and has a senior QB with a talented group of WRs. Biggest problem is IU's young O-line will struggle to block the OSU d-line.

IU's QB blows. What'd he throw, like 5 picks against us? Some of the worst accuracy I've ever seen.

I assume that's what you meant.

Especially since Greg Schiano has informed us all that tOSU's front line is better than his NFL front lines. I guess they must have a new line since the Clemson game. http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/20268480/greg-schiano-ohio-state-buckeyes-defensive-line-better-tampa-bay-buccaneers-2012-13

I love Michigan -4 and NC State -5 against USC should be very easy money.
