The Official John Collins ROY Watch thread

Justin Jackson 3/3 7-1-1 in only 8 minutes of action so far. Definitely didn’t see him playing at this level this quickly.

I think he'll be a better pro than college player. He'll be able to fit into his role without having to be the #1 or #2 option.

Stay away from the Hotlanta nightlife Collins

Never Forget.

Yeah, I think he could be a sneaky good three and D guy. He can defend two positions and his shot looks like it’s translating better than you would expect.

Think about how much Collins would have blocked that shot last night if he had another year of college under his belt !

I think he was credited with a block he did not earn. He's always out of position.

Ilya out for 1-2 weeks with bone bruise. Split time today with Muscala.

Okay, missed yest's game, but JC was one of only two Hawks that were plus on the day. Rest of team was brutal. Being in ATL, I've watched most of their games (shudders) or large snippets when JC is in the game. I understand starting Collins out gradually to build his confidence, but considering the stuff they are running for him (NONE WHATSOEVER), makes no sense for him to have to "split" minutes with anyone.

John should be starting over Dedmon, and if anything, Muscala is better with JC on the court as he is a stretch 4/5 that thrives on the perimeter. Plus, Muscy's D is as bad as anyone's, including John's. Might as well play him 25-32 mins a night so the young man can learn not only the nuances of NBA help D, but how to play with his teammates. He barely plays with Schroder and Dennis needs to improve his PnR passing. Collins should be scoring 20 a night barring foul trouble for this shitty team. Prince, Ilyasova & even Dedmon play too many mins.

Wake up Bud. You obviously have tried everything and you can't win a game vs even a shitty Bulls team. Might as well play the rookies as much as possible. Time to "learn how to fly."

The problem with playing Collins 30 minutes a night now is he will hit the wall halfway through the season.

Who cares? Might as well learn now how to handle it, will improve his conditioning. This team ain't goin' nowhere fast. I mean he's already playing 22-25 mins when he's not in foul trouble and Bud isn't being delusional, what's another 5??

Here's a read on his progression from the Hawks SB site:

Lol 6 fouls in 14 minutes.

6 offensive rebounds is damn impressive. Makes sense that he picked up so many fouls playing that aggressive.

His defensive positioning needs work. A lot of those fouls were him trying to catch up to a player blowing by him.

Yes

Collins is not great AR defensive positioning

I'm not sure why and think it's correctable though

5 offensive rebs first half vs cavs. has missed about 4 chippies though
