The Official John Collins ROY Watch thread

His D needs a lot of work. Dirk used his bounce against him with pumpfakes. He did a good job being active. He didn't get posted up that much.

And he’s not Justin Jackson-level bad at basketball.

Yeah I don’t think it’s trashing Collins to say that a Blake Griffin comp is dumb. It’s like calling Lonzo the next Westbrook.

Collins is going to put up numbers because he’s a good player on a terrible team. After seeing DSJ and Simmons I think Collins winning ROY is nearly impossible.

So a 50:1 shot that wins if two 20 year olds who have already sat out a year for injuries can't make it 82 games? I'll take it

May have already been said, but Zach Lowe said a few weeks ago teams in the second half of the lottery were already kicking themselves for passing on him.

Thanks, didn't see this

The young wings are very intriguing. John Collins FOMO is already spreading among teams who picked late in the lottery and beyond. The Hawks have a nice collection of competent bench big men. Too bad they have to start two of them.

The Wilcox comp is even dumber. Wilcox was an absolutely ridiculous athlete without a whole lot of basketball skills. Collins doesn't have near the athleticism of Wilcox (or Griffin), but he has a better motor and offensive skill set.

palma, that goes back to what I was saying above. The Hawks can put any number of lineups out there, but none of them are very good lineups. I see no reason why they don't just ride Schroder and Collins and build around them. Go small with Schroder, Collins, and three wings or go big with Dedmon. They could be East-decent if Prince, Bazemore, or Bembry steps up and Belinelli stays reliable and Dedmon is a good rim protector. They need to start posting Collins up.

It'll be interesting if Collins gets more minutes in Charlotte on Friday.

Any Deacs planning to go down? Back in the day, we had a pretty large Deacon contingent for Timmy's first game in Charlotte.

I'm not going. Going to an oyster roast for a charity.

i may be in our suite but still trying to see if my client is coming.

JC doesn't even get to play much with Schroooooter, and he still puts in 14 with 5 and 2. Bud will pull his head out of his ass eventually.

By the way, the "we passed on Collins" group... TJ Leaf with 0 points and 3 fouls in 10 minutes, DJ Wilson DNP, Justin Patton DNP, Justin Jackson 5 points in 20 minutes, Bam Adebayo -12 PER in 6 minutes, Kennard DNP...

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA LOVE IT. U DA MAN JC!!

Hawks fans are going crazy like Collins is the next Dan Roundfield or something.
