"John The Baptist is back!"

(over the dookie, no less)

15/7/1/1/1 in 20 min. Welcome back!

John the Baptist was a badass. It also fits with his Alma mater, the cult following he is attaining, and his habit of baptizing people against their will in the paint. The NBA has awful boring nicknames as a rule. This one is good.

It's a great nickname and we should be ashamed we didn't come up with it.

Does anyone who graduated from Wake say before the late 80's much less non-Wake affiliated folks remember the ties to the Southern Baptist Convention?

The nickname refers to John the Baptist who was famous for dunking.

UNC's fans used to have signs at our games featuring the picture of a toilette and the caption, "John the Baptists." Not exactly evoking happy memories.

We shouldn’t be ashamed we didn’t think of it.
It’s an average to below average nickname.

His most recent game was much better than his stat line. He’s very active on both sides of the court. He played the last 5 minutes of the game which says a lot.

Hawks just signed Tyler Cavanaugh to a multiyear deal per Hawks twitter

Good for him!

Wake Forest was never affiliated with the organization known as the Southern Baptist Convention. At one time Wake Forest was owned and controlled by the North Carolina Baptist State Convention, which is not the same institution as the Southern Baptist Convention.
