Biggest Reform EVER passed thread

The longest and most successful con in American history. They counted on your dumbshit parents to buy it, they’ve counted on your dumb ass to buy it, and they’ll be counting on your dumb kids to buy it too.

Great work!

There isn't a good thread to put this on, so I thought I'd just drop it here. Lockheed Martin, which achieves essentially 100% of its revenue from US taxpayers, achieved $5 billion in profit in 2018. "Profit" of course is the amount that goes to shareholders after all the top executives get paid millions of dollars each in cash and stock.* https://investors.lockheedmartin.com/static-files/d7ed3a30-bde8-4bff-b0aa-43f518899ce8 This report was seen as a disappointment, as Wall Street expected even MORE taxpayer dollars to be sloshed into the pockets of the private sector due to profitable sales of F-35s etc.

I just leave this here as a reminder of reality, for when the GOP gets concerned about the deficit again under President Harris/Sanders/Warren/O'Rourke and demands that Social Security, Medicare, and food stamps be slashed, because we just can't find anything else to cut.

*The CEO alone makes about $20,000,000/year. https://www1.salary.com/Marillyn-A-Hewson-Salary-Bonus-Stock-Options-for-LOCKHEED-MARTIN-CORP.html That's similar to the pay received by other major defense contractors. Since their pay is nearly 100% the result of taxpayer expenditures, that makes these people the most highly paid public employees on the planet.

So in the last year, we paid Lockheed Martin enough for them to do the work, get paid, and the cost of Trump’s wall.

Seeing a lot of stories about dipshit middle class white republicans pissing their pants over their taxes going up this year from this shitty bill. It’s remarkble how many times this party has screwed these chumps and they continue to come back every time. Those fetuses and queers have paid off in spades.

Probably they didn’t adjust their withholding to keep up with the law. So they won’t get as much of a refund, or may owe.

I think Pubs designed the law to minimize/reduce withholding so people would feel they were benefiting from the new rates on a paycheck basis. Consequently, come time to file a lot of people will get less or no refund.

I haven’t tried to check/confirm this understanding, but I think it’s something like that.

I read the article he was referring today too as it showed up on yahoo. It was an opinion piece talking about how he couldn’t take a home office deduction or student interest deduction anymore, the latter of which is just flat out wrong cause it’s above the line.

People are painfully dumb as shit regarding their personal income taxes.

lol it was a gimmick to sucker these people. They aren’t getting jack shit of a tax cut, as you so eloquently argued last year about your couple hundred buck reduction, and they are too fucking stupid to adjust their withholdings along with the thing they purport to want and voted for. And in another couple of years they get nothing. Lol

Yep—Trump Tax Cuts Are (Probably) About to Become a Political Disaster

...Now, the bill for the GOP’s (reported) withholding shenanigans is coming due: The average American’s tax refund was 8.4 percent lower in the first week of 2019 than it was one year ago (under the pre-Trump tax code). And while Americans have trouble noticing tax changes when they’re dispersed across 12 to 24 separate paychecks, they do typically pay very close attention to the size of their refunds. About three-quarters of the country typically qualifies for a tax refund most years — and for many of those households, that check from the IRS is the largest lump sum they’ll receive all year.

“Ask people how much they paid in taxes, nobody knows. Ask them how much they got in their refund, people know,” Howard Gleckman , a senior fellow at the Tax Policy Center, told the Intercept’s David Dayen this week. “Everyone focuses on size of the refund, and it does affect perception.”

In other words: It looks as though the Republican Party implemented their signature tax bill in a manner that will lead many people who received tax cuts to believe that Donald Trump raised their taxes.

If GOP lawmakers had explained the withholding tomfoolery to their middle class constituents, it would have exposed their big sham of a pittance of a tax cut (for them) for only the first couple of years. No wonder Ryan ducked out. Lol, suckers

Short term gain for the wealthy, long term pain for the nation.

What’s not to like?

If you’re a rube?

But hey, at least they jacked up the 1040 so it’ll fit on a postcard or something. Idiots.

Your taxes went up because Democrats are in control of the House. AOC is paving the way for socialism.

MSNBC might actually be the enemy of the people
What they are reporting is true. A lot of people had small incremental tax benefits in their paychecks that were probably offset by higher Health costs so they didn't really notice any benefit and now their refund is much lower so they're bitching up a storm
