Biggest Reform EVER passed thread

If you care about the deficit you raise taxes on the wealthy, cut taxes on the middle class and poor, you cut corporate tax rates while closing all the loopholes, you rework social security, including raising age and income that is taxed for it. You reasonable reduce spending and waste including the 700 billion dollar war machine.

apparently the holdup was about "trigger" not going to work re: Sen Cornyn and Sen Perdue

They should include a slider/trigger. It’s not instability if you know it’s there. If you believe so strongly in trickle down and the corporations putting the money back to workers then you have nothing to worry about.

that's the "trigger" to the GOP tax bill that would reverse certain tax cuts if economic growth does not materialize from their legislation

This has been the primary concern for Corker, Flake and Lankford in voting for the bill

sure but re: Cornyn it does not comply with Senate budget rules.

palma is right that for a majority of Americans this will be seen as at least a short term positive. Most people are not as altruistic as we hope they would be.

It's weird that the biggest tax benefit is in the first year.

Married couples making over $250k really start doing fairly well. Your tax rate goes from 33% to 24%.

In general the new tax plan is much more advantageous to the married folks than the single folks, comparatively.

Depends on how many kids you have.

I'm more referring to the fact that the brackets are basically doubled under the new senate plan, for married taxpayers. Under the old system there was a "marriage tax" after a certain income level.

Seems good for rich OWG's with stay at home wives.

They are changing the way inflation is calculated so that it increases at a slower rate. That measure taken in isolation would increase everyone's taxes each year compared to current rules, and that change will compound each year.

This part of the bill will have some solid consequences for workers and not the way republicans are thinking.

“it encourages businesses to invest more, allowing them to immediately expense the cost of things like new equipment and machinery”

sure but re: Cornyn it does not comply with Senate budget rules.

lol, they are not even waiting for the parliamentarian to rule on whether or not everything in the proposed bill fits within Senate budget rules. Cornyn is full of it.
