Slaughter in vegas

banning new transfers of automatic weapons is pretty practical and simple

For it to actually have an effect, it would need to include a prohibition on high capacity magazines and make owning any, and/or modifying a semi-auto to be more auto than its original manufacturer's specs, an appropriate-level felony. That is also pretty practical and simple but won't get done.

Yep. As someone who owns and enjoys shooting guns it's absolutely crazy to me that you can buy high capacity mags just on a whim. That, along with back ground checks/mental illness checks are common sense things that need to be approved to help fix this stuff. It's not going to fix everything but it's a starting point.

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around how a lone shooter could do so much damage from that range.

Idk how. He had a fully auto rifle. Point at the crowd, pull the trigger. Most of those guns can be deadly at damn near a mile, some even more.

Christ, Dan Bilzerian was there and you can just hear the constant gunfire as he's running away.

Isn't this already the case? If not we need to get on it ASAP.

my understanding is Trump is about to speak about Las Vegas in a minute.

please don't blow this Trump, big moment.

one thing at a time, brother

Initial scripted response will be fine. He'll get credit for a reasoned response. Then he will start reacting to the reaction, and that's when bets are off.

yes, thank God it is scripted.

no big water comments, please!

Politics is how society proposes solutions to perceived problems. "Don't make this political" = "I don't see a problem here" or "Don't solve it."

If you want to have a conversation with someone about gun control with the NRA, you can look right in your (likely for many) backyard. The incoming President of the NRA is none other than Richard Childress. I know him, and if you do plan on talking to him prepare to be absolutely amazed. your head will explode within 2 minutes.

BTW: hanging in his building is an extremely paraphrased second amendment sign that says "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed". So by excluding half of what is actually written I have the right to own an AR-15 no matter how many innocent people may die.

So he's a former accountant/auditor and Vegas and California resident who dates asian girls. Sounds like a real loser.

Reckless speculation: Either a down on his luck gambler who hates Vegas (He sued a casino years ago) or an actual proponent of gun control targetting an NRA rich crowd.

So the main policy solution to the largest mass shooting in US history is....lowering the flag to half staff.

Ok, this made me laugh. Well done.
