The religious right's hypocrisy now on full display

probably the best feature of Trump is that he's not religious

He's not religious because he's amoral.

Yet he's the chosen leader of amoral people who are religious.

But those amoral people who chose him are not religious based on your first sentence. It's a vicious circle of depravity!

rubes don't care, they got their judge

Yep. The irony of supposedly devout followers of Christ electing someone as their nation's leader who is the antithesis of Christ in almost every way so he can appoint judges who will force the values they claim to believe in, but actually don't really practice, down everyone else's throats, is just too rich. And, there's the added fact that much of what they seem to believe in doesn't really go along with much of Christ's teachings. Not to mention that nearly all of their religious faction's most prominent leaders - Graham, Falwell, Jr., Robertson, etc. - are either proven liars, con artists, or greedy materialistic hypocrites (or all three).

Jesus believed in paying taxes but I am sure all these clowns conveniently forget about that.

that's how the most effective religious leaders work

yeah but at least they're like going to church regularly and can quote scripture and such. Trump is just standing there like a dope not even pretending to hold the paper in front of his face. guess he really hates reading that much.

It's clear he doesn't know what to do. He has no idea what the Creed is or that he should be reciting it with everyone else. The church is foreign to him.

Yeah. They are religious but amoral. Maybe pious would be a better way to put it.

I think the most likely scenario is that he has no clue what to do, AND he either can't read or more likely he has poor vision and thinks glasses make him look weak so he just can't fucking see.

I've definitely seen the glasses theory floated around

but it's also that even if he can't read it/doesn't know what to do, a quick glance to his right and/or left would show everyone else reading from the paper, so maybe pretend to do that.

You guys don't get it. Look at how HONEST Trump is being. Yeah he lied about being a devout christian, but he lied to your faces, and now he isn't even pretending. That's REAL honesty. Beats the Obamas and the Clintons CLEARLY faking it since they're all satanists.

Still bothers me that the thread title says “now on full display” as if the Church/religious people haven’t been openly hypocritical for the last few millennia.

You are lightyears ahead of the game, LK

This seems like the right thread for this ... Hugh Freeze to be next Liberty coach. https://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2017/07/hugh_freeze_proven_to_be_a_san.html

By John Talty,

On Jan. 21, 2016, Hugh Freeze tweeted, "Been a great week of recruiting but so glad to see my girls and be back in Oxford for the weekend. And LOVED the call I just got. #SIPBOYZ16"

Less than three hours earlier, he called a Florida-based escort on his university-issued cell phone.

That phone call led to his resignation Thursday after Ole Miss discovered a "pattern of conduct" unbecoming of the football program's leader following media inquiries about the escort.

It's a stunning fall from grace for Freeze who was making more than $4.7 million annually at Ole Miss and will now receive no buyout because the school had enough to fire him through a moral clause in his contract. He's earned himself the ignominy of being one of college football's biggest frauds.

This was a man who made religion his public persona, even using the NCAA's long inquiry into Ole Miss as an example of the persecution he faced.

"Coach Freeze told me when you're that big and out there with faith in Christ, he's like 'What do you expect? Jesus got nailed to the cross," recruit Chevin Calloway told SBNation though the Ole Miss coach denied that characterization.

His Twitter was full of daily Bible messages, Christian allegories and other inspiring messages about football. He was a living embodiment of the cliche "Faith, Family and Football." When he interviewed for the job, he even said that "Jesus Christ will be at the center of it all" and "if that's not what you want, I'm not your guy," according to former linebackers coach Tom Allen.
