The religious right's hypocrisy now on full display

They’re hiring an investigator to find out what everybody else has known for years. They should look into Big Jerry as well.

Agreed, but I doubt the trustees or anyone else connected with that school would dare to do anything that might besmirch the reputation of Falwell Senior. Apparently he's regarded with reverence and awe there. I do think they're fed up with his son, and he and his wife may not be so fortunate.
 
Maybe they (or someone for crying out loud) can look into Trump's finances/entanglements someday.
 
I don’t think there is a benefit in looking for dirt on Falwell senior. They would just be discrediting their university. They need dirt on junior to break any financial (or other) commitments.

Yep. Falwell Senior has become their version of Robert E. Lee for Neo-Confederate Southerners - more of a myth now than a real person. I've read articles in which Liberty alumni and current faculty and staff have had some harsh things to say about Little Falwell, but nearly all of those same people just gushed about what a wonderful man and Christian leader Falwell Senior was. Which is dubious at best, when one looks at his actual beliefs and statements starting in the 1960s. The university will never investigate the Senior Falwell to any extent, instead they're likely to build a shrine to him somewhere on campus, if there isn't one already. Little Falwell, though, will likely get the going-over by the university that his father should have gotten, and they'll have no problems leaving him out to dry, as he has harmed what his saintly father built. Or so they have convinced themselves.
 
Lynchburg is a crazy place. With all the money they've brought in, I'm doubting the "investigation" gets far. Their endowment is bigger than Wake's. A tearful confession or two, and someone else to start cashing the checks.

Last 4 posts are spot on. If they are investigating his entire tenure they may have knowledge that he was defrauding the "university" for years. They probably knew he was trump-style spending liberty money on himself but being lil' jerry Jr felt like they could not touch him. Of course, he's now besmirched their good Christian name potentially interrupting the gravy train. That's the one thing that can't happen.

And yet I'm sure this guy and others would insist that they're not members of a political quasi-religious cult. As someone else posted on this board recently, one reason I wouldn't be at all surprised if Trump wins reelection is that far too many Republicans and conservatives absolutely love the guy - they're crazy about him, and will crawl to the polls if necessary to vote for him. You know his base of people like this will turn out no matter what, the real question in this campaign is will everyone else turn out to vote as well, at least in greater numbers than in 2016.

Young, where he kidnaps, beats and tortures a prostitute, uses cocaine, and conducts a sort of satanic ritual. After the video, Young wears a “Make America Great Again” hat while he answers questions about his work.

The school board candidate appears to have become involved in politics in 2016 as a supporter of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, according to his Facebook page. He led a protest opposing then-gubernatorial candidate Phil Murphy last year.

Riggleman officiated a same sex wedding and was primaried by a Liberty University employee (Lynchburg is in the district). In a stunner, this guy, Bob Good, endorses a "Biblical world view" which supports Trump and is fixated with ending LGBTQ+ rights.

Also, this guy is on his campaign staff.

In the video, which was made in 2017 but has recently resurfaced on social media, former Greene County, Va., Supervisor Eddie Deane objected to a Black Lives Matter protest that closed down a lane of a local highway. The protest had a permit.

“You had a black man in the president for eight years and you’re crying foul, or white supremacy? You give the devil an inch, and he’ll be your ruler. These minorities will not be satisfied,” Deane said in the video, first reported by Charlottesville, Va.’s CBS affiliate.

Deane, who has been a campaign surrogate for Good, also condemned LGBTQ+ people in the video. “They’re a bunch of queers, and that’s the word I used years ago, that’s what I use now,” he said. “They’re strange people, and they want your rights and you cannot appease them.”
