BBall Recruiting Thread 2k19 - Charles Coleman de-commits to Wake. :(

We are going to have an abundance of something we didn't have at all this past season ... length on the wings.

Wright is ranked 4-stars, 82/100, and is ranked as the #24 SG in the class of 2018.

Jamie Lewis, 2018 PG
6'2-6'3, 185-190

ESPN: 4-star, UR, #27 PG
Rivals: 4-star, #98 overall
Scout: ??? [Does Scout exist anymore?]
247: 4-star, #88 overall, #18 PG

How is a 4 star by espn unrated? Not top 100 but still 4 star?

Yes, you're right. ESPN only ranks the top-100 players, though they also do top-50 positional rankings.

In general, ESPN always has a lot of 4-stars. For instance, in the class of 2018 there are 155 4-star players:

#5-#39 PGs are 4-stars
#4-#34 SGs are 4-stars
#7-#45 SFs are 4-stars
#10-#36 PFs are 4-stars
#3-#30 Cs are 4-stars

and 24 5-stars
4 PGs are 5-stars
3 SGs are 5-stars
6 SFs are 5-stars
9 PFs are 5-stars
2 Cs are 5-stars

The top-179 players are 4 and 5 stars on ESPN versus 128 on Rivals and 128 on 247 (137 on the composite).

That leaves former NC State commit Jamie Lewis and former UL commit Courtney Ramey as our final 2018 PG prospects with offers.

For reference:

Jamie Lewis, 2018 PG
6'2-6'3, 185-190

ESPN: 4-star, UR, #27 PG
Rivals: 4-star, #98 overall
247: 4-star, #88 overall, #18 PG

and

Courtney Ramey, 2018 PG
6'3, 170

ESPN: 4-star, #49 overall, #12 PG
Rivals: 4-star, #39 overall
247: 4-star, #46 overall, #10 PG

Any more word on Sharone Wright Jr from that tournament this weekend?

Not really on Twitter. There's another recruiting analyst that was impressed with Wright's first half as well. But nothing more substantial nor any follow-ups for the second half.

Watching Jamie Lewis' highlights compared to BC's Jr. Year highlights kinda pales in comparison:

Lewis reminds me a little bit of Tony Chennault at the same stage. Chennault never really developed for (what are now) obvious reasons, but he looked like a nice recruit for us at the time.

Not sure how strongly we were recruiting him, but Joey Baker just committed to Duke: https://scout.com/college/basketbal...-forward-Joey-Baker-commits-to-Duke-109675821
WF wasn't publicly involved that much (spending that time on Moore) but UNC definitely was involved heavily for a long time but never offered him. It marks the second 5* SF in two years (Hoard the first) that UNC had heavy interest in but never actually offered a scholly.

The commitment lessons the chances of Moore choosing Duke but could possibly signal Moore is UNC bound.

Was he playing point/lead ball handler this weekend?
Probably safe to assume so as he played almost strictly PG for his team last year (West Florence) and is expected to do so this season with Legacy Charter as well.

Baker was ALWAYS going to Duke if they offered, and obviously they did, so he committed in time to beat out Moore who just received a Duke offer. Wendell Moore will now likely not go to Duke (although that is where he always wanted to go) but would have committed to them if Baker hadn't pulled the trigger and that is why Duke offered Moore lately IMO, to push Baker to commit or possibly lose the ship to Moore. Moore will most likely now end up at unc

Guy has a pretty sweet 3 point shot. Release is a little low but he is smooth.

Weird seeing a recruit from upstate NY, and my hometown no less, getting some Wake Forest love. I'm not sure about their classification 20+ years later, but they never played any big high schools when I was growing up there. They would occasionally play a top tier team and get slaughtered. They are more known for their hockey team and success as they are a very private and fairly exclusive military academy. Not sure if this one is much to get excited about, but hopefully the kid is legit and the Academy is now a "Class A" (we used to have A,B,C,D etc. not 7A and all that jazz) juggernaut.
