I read his point as being broader than the state of Minnesota. Furthermore, if we are discussing state-level politics, the incentive to take the high ground in a state that is dominated by one party would be hard to find, I think.

Ok, I see what you’re saying now. There is definitely a long term political benefit to being the party that vehemently respects women and doesn’t split hairs on which type of sexual assault is ok.

One of the worst things about conservative hypocrites is that they thing everybody else is a hypocrite too.

November 2016 is the first time I ever voted for a Clinton because I thought Bill's sexual exploits were beneath the office of the President.

So obviously, I call BS on the idea that someone who feels the same way about Bill Clinton would vote for Trump.
 
Ignoring the sexual allegation charges, Trump embraced a conspiracy theory against the former president to keep him in the limelight for years. That alone should have disqualifed him from anybody who was paying attention.
