UCLA bball players arrested in China for shoplifting

Any news yet if these guys will come home with the team........or will they be stuck in China for a while?

Kinda like study abroad for the fall semester, or longer

they can dominate the prison bball circuit. And with the first overall pick in the 2018 nba draft...From Wudu Prison...averaging 38 points, 9 boards, and 12 assists...

Wrong. If these kids were at a Louise Vuitton store then the sunglasses were legit. Not only that they will be selling at a higher price comparative to goods being sold through LV USA based stores. Those Sunglasses held serious value.

If they are over there for a month, how will that affect their coursework? Will they get incompletes, thus making them ineligible for the spring semester? Or has UCLA adopted the Carolina Way and they get credit for the experience?
 
really just need to make sure that a few other students from their classes dont attend the first couple of weeks but get passing grades. Probably will happen on its own anyway. Independent study for everyone!

I think this is the least of their trouble right now. They are in serious legal trouble. Not sure they get that.
 
Present reports suggest the three will remain in China after the UCLA team leaves. Time estimates are a month. I hope they brought plenty of warm clothing and have strong stomachs. This is China, not the USA. Heat is a rare commodity and the food is not what they would get at the local Chinese restaurant in Southern California. Reality could take on a new meaning. Papa Ball would be well advised to keep his mouth shut. In China a written agreement is the beginning of negotiations not the end. Have fun fellas.
 
If they said how much they loved Trump and think Hillary should be in jail, maybe they could get out by the weekend. :)

They are staying in a five star Hyatt Regency. Their current reality is better than yours.
 
Imagine being the UCLA staffer that will be spending the month with them in China, because you know they won't be left there by themselves.
 
This is really not a big deal, they will just trade 2 Patriot systems, 4 ICBM's and an Aircraft Carrier to the Chinese in exchange for the players. Oh China will throw in one of those nifty North Korean winter hats and and unspecified number of starving N. Koreans to be named later

This is no big deal. Now, if they were visiting North Korea and playing in the Little Fat Man and Rodman invitational, they could all die in coma in prison. That would be a big deal.
 
Still not sure if:

A) This is not a big deal and the relative lack of information is just because this is China and nobody has good sources.

or

B) This is a big deal, and the media isn't saying much because they truly have no clue and everyone related to UCLA/Ball is keeping quiet because they are very worried.
 
I think the best thing they have going for them is that the Prez is in the neighborhood on a state visit. Not that Trump gives a damn about these 3 stooges, orwill intervene, but I would hope that the Chinese would be concerned about being overly aggressive here, while the whole world is watching and waiting for a better relationship between US and China as a way to neuter Rocketman. From a geopolitical perspective the timing of their shop lifting was pretty good IMO.

I suspect they will be coming home after a month, and if that means they have to take a pass on the semester or playing ball this year, too damn bad. The learning experience will be far more valuable to them that a few weeks of tutored cupcake classes.
 
Can we get an update from TheReff? Have the Chinese chopped off their balls yet?
