Premier Wellman, step up and do the right thing

Funny thing is, just imagine if Collins and Dinos had stayed. We'd be coasting, the 2018 class would still be on the way, and Manning would be getting an extension before ACC season...

I wouldn't bet on that. Manning appears to have completely checked out of this deal. He's done.

Or not. The defense would still be shit and we would be even more stunned to be 1-2 with a last second win on the back of Collins.

We’d be better and maybe 3-0, but it’d be fools gold come conference play. Dinos wouldn’t have made that big a difference and Moore had Collins numbers tonight and we still lost. This team has more problems than losing those 2 guys.

8 days ago: We are heading into a bridge year to get us to 2018 when we’ll have elite talent and depth to complete for championships. Even though our expectations were bubble team for this season, we had a fringe NBA point guard and enough around him to even have some hope of a solid year. And then in 18-19, watch out. Probably set up for several NCAA appearances in a row (at least).

Today: Debating if we need to (should/could?) fire our entire coaching staff mid season. Probably lose a bunch of 4-5 star recruits. Multiple years at the bottom of the ACC.

How the fuck does that happen so fast?

Huh? Just because he doesn't know how to scheme defense, motivate experienced players, and play reasonable lineups doesn't mean he's not trying or doesn't care.

Good point. Maybe he could attend one of those rec league clinics or something. There has to be a way to for a head coach at a major power 5 school to learn how to coach defense. Maybe a U-tube video or something.

Childress could keep the recruits if he retains Jones. Those two recruited them all anyway. Bring in Odom to help with game coaching, defense and rebounding/ toughness. He also knows how to run more than pick and roll free lance offense.

Stop. Just stop.

Disagree. Doral put up good numbers but he's not a dominant player. He drew zero double teams and hardly ever got the ball with his back to the basket and scored. Lots of garbage buckets and being 7 feet tall against Drake got those numbers. He didn't change how they defended us.

We ran the entire offense through Collins. His absence has broken this team offensively - and we were already bad defensively. Dinos was a solid ACC player, and it's pretty clear that neither Sarr nor Thompson are close to being that.

We have a team that can't survive a 1 for 8 night from any of our guards, and we've gotten that kind of performance from someone in every game so far. And that's despite the opposing guards being mediocre to awful.

God hates Ron Wellman.

Only logical explanation.

this is why you shouldn't post when you are pissed

unfortunately its an epic fail on all the staff. The time to clean house is now.

Only thing that I can come up with to defend Manning at this point is that he's never been in a situation as a HC where he lost his best front court players to the pros. His players have never been good enough to leave early. Manning is still relatively inexperienced as an HC and this is something he can learn a lot from. Not a good defense, but all I got.

Having said that, I'm sure KU lost players to the pros while Manning was coaching there and one would think he observed how Self dealt with the issue and learned something from it, or at least he should have. Hudson was also dismissed from the team a a while back, but I don't recall us winning a lot of games at the time with him. Still pulling for Manning regardless.
