Doral Moore

We have played NOBODY. And certainly no teams with decent bigs.

We will see when we start an actual schedule.

Doral has had a decent start to the season. His offensive production demands more opportunity. Rebounds well in his area. Alters shots and protects the rim. I'd prefer to see him around the basket on defense rather than guarding on the perimeter. Needs to be on the floor, even at the risk of fouling out. Hit some big free throws late against UNCG but is still a target to be fouled late in the game. Gaining confidence.

Who said it 'can't teach 7 feet' or something to that effect. Chuck Nevitt had a long NBA career because he was tall.

Nevitt is 7'5. That's different than 7'1.

MC, Doral needs to take 100s of FTs/day. His stroke is decent. If he takes enough, I think he'll get over thinking about shooting them. I wouldn't mind seeing him playing a virtual one man zone.

Coach em up!

Box and 1?

Box and 1?

A Box & 1 is covering one specific player with the rest playing a zone. What I'm saying is for him to play centerfield.

The biggest weakness of what I'm thinking about is a Pick and Pop. Or any kind of pick and shooting for threes.

But the possible strength is to make the opposition rely on those shots rather than layups.

No. Uncoordinated 7 footers don't go for 17 and 7 in college basketball games. I have seen plenty over the years.

Or execute lobs as easily as Doral does. Or block as many shots as naturally.

Doral is awkward, but he is coordinated, and more athletic than first appears. Doral can hold his own against just about any 5 that WF will face; the problem is the 4 spot. WF needs another big to help on the boards and interior D. Hope Sarr can develop quickly, but against bigger teams WF can't play Doral and 4 guys 6-5 and smaller. TT is not the answer.

Give Mitchell and Melo more run at the 4.

This year is a wash already. Give the young guys more minutes over TT and Wilbekin.

I submit as evidence the final play against Georgia Southern.

And uncoordinated 7'1" definitely go for 17 and 7 against UNC-Greensboro.

He just generally had a crappy game that first game. He got in early foul trouble didn't really get a lot of minutes and I think just put too much pressure on himself in general late in the game.
There have been a lot of good centers that you generally wouldn't want handling the ball in open court too often.

It's usually a bad move to trust your 7-footer to make a key pass in that situation.

His progression from his frosh year is pretty linear. Last year he really regressed for some reason.
The kid couldn't play more than 2-3 possessions his frosh year without being totally gassed. I didn't see that regress last year. He should have been red-shirted because of conditioning but I guess DM didn't know if JC would explode like he did.

The fouls are just part of the learning curve. Agree with you, calling him uncoordinated is a bit silly.

Unless he is Tim Duncan or somebody like that, or a perimeter 3 point specialist big man.

Moore has played 6 games in his Wake career now where he has played 20 minutes or more.

Point totals in those games 19/17/17/14/13/6.
