Bullshit Fox News Says

Stuart Varney on Fox Business had a Wall Street "expert" on this morning who said that if Biden won it would be bad for stocks and the American economy and our standing in the world, because socialism is really, really bad for the stock market because it hurts capitalism and people won't invest under socialism and so on. Which just provides more evidence for my view that to Republicans liberalism = socialism = communism = marxism. There is no difference in their minds, it's all the same. And of course Varney played right along - "those are some great points...thanks for your thoughts!"

This is the crux of it to me- Republicans have been able to convince (I was going to say brainwash but trying to stay neutral) its followers that Democrats are raging socialists and by extension Joe Biden will turn the US into Venezuela. Even the people I know who are just non-lunatic small business owners/entrepreneur etc types are completely bought into this. They don't want higher taxes and some sort of slippery slope towards a socialist dystopia so they will hold their nose and vote for Trump.

Yep. I've seen quite a few interviews and such in which people list off all these reasons not to vote for Trump then they with "...but I'm a small business owner, so I'm voting for Trump."

Honestly, I don't see how these people can function much less run a business. It's obvious that Republicans aren't for small business. They're for the big businesses that are crushing small businesses. And I really don't understand why a small business owner would rather devote time, energy, and resources to health care plans rather than just not worry about it at all.

I mean, I hate Trump with a passion but I ran the numbers just out of curiosity of what his 20% rate would have meant for me back when I was running my own S-Corp LLC. It was over $20k. Definitely know a handful of small business Trump voters who think he's an idiot - but they like the cash way more than they hate his tweets.

I'm seeing "media doesn't call the race" pop up on rube social media. It's pretty amazing how Republicans can easily convince them that a process they've witnessed every four years is different.

Rare, indeed, but Fox/Cavuto just cut from Kayleigh's presser due to unfounded claims. Historic!

Also a rapid shift from "we need to know the winner the night of the election!"

It’s almost like this isn’t a fucking game after all. Turns out words, institutions, and norms actually fucking matter.

Pretty sure any state that went for Biden has enough people to find Biden electors.

He did not say find. He said seat. The pressure from their base, aka losing their job, is more important than the will of the citizens in their states.

Gotcha. Yeah. That may be true but that statement seems like a threat to GOP legislatures.

What pressure is on them to do the right thing and seat Biden electors? Seems like there is much more pressure on them to defy the voters and stick with party.

Thats what I said. The pressure trumpublicans feel is not about doing the right thing its about keeping their jobs by cow towing to trump, trump sycophants, and their deplorable and/or dumb dumb base.

I wrote this elsewhere, but it's obvious that many Trumpites don't really care about the GOP per se, but only about the fortunes of Dear Leader. They don't care that their party has very likely held the Senate and gained a number of House seats and done very well in state legislatures and governor's races. All they care about is Trump winning. If he loses, they just don't seem to care very much about anything else. No doubt some Republicans will be happy with their performance down ballot, but much of the GOP base will not be satisfied with anything other than Trump getting a second term. It's what happens when your party becomes a cult of personality.
