Somewhat comparable. However the percentage of foreign born players in the NHL (50%) is about twice as big as the percentage of foreign players in the NBA (25%). So the top European hockey teams are missing a higher proportion of top players than the top European basketball teams would be missing if there were no NBA players in the Olympics.
It would not have been a huge surprise to see Sweden, Finland, Russia or Czech Republic beat the Canadians. But losing to the Germans is an embarrassment for the Canadians.
Completely false. I could not care less and did not expect to win a medal going in. We struggled with South Korea back in November and Latvia only two weeks ago. Our actual good players lose to poor teams in the World Championships often so this is not too surprising.
