Next Wake Forest Basketball Coach...

We are worried that the bar is too low.

Scenario 1- horrible season and Manning is fired, wasted another year
Scenario 2- Manning is able to make significant progress, say winning a game in the real tournament. He finally comes into his own and we go on a run of success.
Scenario 3- Manning is able to make significant progress, say winning a game in the tournament, this is a low bar but somehow leads to job security for 2-3 more years in which he regresses to previous seasons and we wasted 2-3 years.

People think scenario one is going to happen, would love scenario 2 to happen, and really scared scenario 3 will happen.

You make the list like it is a known the new hire is worth a shit.
Scenario 4- We fire DM & hire Porter Moses. Hoard opts to play at Maryland. We suck this year. 2019class is awful resulting in a 4year Buzz like tenure sending Porter back to a mid major.

A competent AD would let Manning either fall on his face next year or take the program another step forward.

If he does the former then you fire him, declare a fresh start for the program, and hire a guy who you believe can quickly get you back to the NCAAT and keep you there.

.

So manning deserves 5 years to prove himself but the next coach has to get to the tourney quickly. Got it.

But Manning was left a team that had lost 20 games a couple of seasons before while the next coach...Yea, I see your point.
