OFFICIAL 2018 MLB PLAYOFFS Thread (Cubs free)

Seems like all 30 teams should have a boilerplate "Player X tweeted some ugly shit back in the day" statement on the ready.

Phillies pick up Asdrubal Cabrera from the Mets. Dude hasn't played SS all year, but that's probably his most logical spot on this Phillies team. Phillies definitely seem to have a "acquire a bunch of players, figure out their positions later" approach.
Are you surprised a team that is set across the infield for the next decade went out and got Asdrubal?

This is a great article.

I used to love baseball. Probably watched around 80% of the Red Sox games from start to finish every night and caught at least some portion of like 95% of their games for a good 10-15 years of my life growing up. Those numbers have dropped a lot the last few years. The average time between balls in play being 3 minutes and 45 seconds is just insanity.

Looking forward to the snarky responses from guys like deacphan and Cheese.
I have been on record for years saying the game is more exciting with the ball in play. But here's your snarky response: You tune in to every Wake basketball game and are glued to the TV/tapatalk on NFL Sunday's.

Scott Kingery may need a bit of a breather. Also, he is a veteran presence in a pretty young clubhouse.

Mets are keeping deGrom and Syndergaard per Rosenthal because they think they can compete next year. Someone needs to take the team away from the Wilpons.

Also, the frontrunners for Chris Archer, should he be traded, are the Bucs and the Pads. Weird.

Yanks trade for Lance Lynn. Give up Tyler Austin and an a-ball guy. Seems like a lot for Lynn who has been terrible this year.

Under 18 hours left in non-waiver trade time for this year.

Will the Nats keep Bryce Harper or trade him tonight?

Trade. Crazy that their run may be over and they never won a playoff series.

As long as the Nats pitching staff is there and healthy they will be contenders. Scherzer, Strasburg, Gio Gonzales, andTanner Roark will keep them as contenders. Nats just haven't figured out the other eight guys to go with that rotation. Too many Boras clients on the roster.

Gio is a FA after this season and Strasburg can't stay healthy. The only guarantee in that rotation is Scherzer, but they do have a nice core of Eaton, Taylor, Soto, Turner, and Rendon.

Seems like the Osuna trade is bad karma for an otherwise likeable Astros team, if you believe in that sort of thing.

Gio Gonzales level pitchers are FAs every year. Strasburg's health is a continuing concern. He usually pitches well in between DL trips. When he is "on" Tanner Roark is well above average for a fourth starter. When he is "off," he is below average. Not sure anybody knows why he is one or the other from game to game.
