OFFICIAL 2018 MLB PLAYOFFS Thread (Cubs free)

IIRC, doesn't FOX's WS contract expire in 2020? Might we be mercifully free of Joe Buck?

Ken "Hawk" Harrelson announced his final White Sox game this afternoon after a 33 year career. At the games conclusion both the White Sox and the Cubs came onto the field and raised their caps to him, with the fans joining them. Well deserved salute to the biggest "homer" in MLB broadcasting. Be well Hawk.

Feels like Yelich won the NL MVP last night.

Agree. Since the ASB, Yelich has split .359/.425/.743/1.168 while leading the Brewers to the playoffs and possibly the best record in the NL. Amazing to think that the Marlins traded Stanton, Ozuna and Yelich last winter. That is an s-load of production. With no great team in the NL this year, had the Marlins stayed in tact and added a couple of pitchers they could've been in the mix.

Potential for all sorts of wacky playoff situations in the NL right now with WC, division, and overall top seed spots all very tight. One game playoffs for all these spots are possible.

Don't forget Dee Gordon and Justin Bour, who played for teams that at least flirted with the playoffs. But yeah, Jeter's doing it right.

Top two teams in the NL West, LA and Colorado, could finish anywhere from Division winner to not in playoffs, with an outside shot at best record in NL.

Phillies swoon/crash/meltdown helping Rockies.

The Phillies were 63-48 on August 5. They are now 78-80. Those that bet the Phillies over the total of 78.5 (or 79) wins must be freaking out.

Phillies look less scary in future years than they did at the start of the season.

Looks to me like the players don't like playing for Kapler. I think his act wears thin over time.

Brewers have three games left against the Tigers and Cubs have four left - one against the Pirates and a series against the Cardinals. Not great for the Cubs. They're guaranteed to host a potential division tiebreak and the WC game at least. Cubbies have just been an average team in September.
