2018 Atlanta Braves Season Thread: Offseason

Dansbaeeeee

When your number 8 hitter jacks 2 2 run HR's in the same game.

"A rare gem by Teheran tonight" You haven't been paying attention very closely if you think that is rare. Prior start he went 7 innings against a very strong Rockies team giving up only 2 runs with 7 Ks and would have got the W if not for some bad errors, walks and 3 unearned runs the Bravos gave up in the 9th. The start before that Julio went 6 vs. very good Brewers club giving up a run with 6 Ks and appearing on way to W before bullpen yet again blew up and lost the game.

Very promising that JT seems to be really stepping up his game as Braves come down the stretch and I would say 4 earned runs over 3 starts is becoming more of a trend than a rarity.

Acuna the fastest 20 year old or under player to reach 20 HRs in history. Random but cool stat.

So our SS's are all power hitters all of a sudden. Culberson just jacked the hell out of one first pitch he saw.

ETA: aaaaaaand Acuna just got a revenge HR that went 437 feet.

Tyler Flowers extended today to 2019, $4M.

Very happy about this. He deserves it. Both of our catchers have been unspoken heroes this season. BIG two game mid week spot against the Rays this week. LESGETIT.

ETA: 2 Run shot in the bottom of the 8th to reassure us that he deserved that CASH.

For anyone who didn't catch how the Phillies lost to the Nats last night, it was easily the dumbest loss I've seen in years. Plus it was right when the Braves were scoring 4 runs to put down the Rays. Very nice.

If we hadn't blown those two Rockies games this race would be close to over. Our schedule the next few weeks is brutal.

Braves have 20 of 31 remaining games against teams fighting to get into the playoffs. Phillies have 18 of 30, so not a whole lot of difference. Plus the Braves have 18 of 31 at home the rest of the way while the Phillies have 16 of 30. Even with the Phillies having the final series in Philadelphia, they will be returning from a 7 day road trip that goes Atlanta to Colorado while the Braves will be going from New York to Philadelphia.

The remaining schedule is brutal, but I don't think it is any more brutal than the Phillies remaining games.

We got two off of waivers today. The Angels backup catcher who will be a good 3rd string option in September, and Lucas Duda who could be a valuable bench bat.
