The WF Women's Golf team competes today, tomorrow and Wednesday in the Tallahassee regional. The top 5 teams advance.

The Deacs are just past the mid-way point of round 1 (it's early).

The good news:

- WF sits in 5th place; 4 shots clear of 6th place
- A-A Jennifer Kupcho is crushing it; -3
- 4 of the 45 WF players are E or better

The bad news:

- WF's #5 player is DFL already +6

Really tough to hang in a team golf event when none of the top 4 are not permitted a single blow up round. Depth remains an issue.

yeah, #5 joined the team from the WF club team last spring - so in the recent basketball vernacular, she's not even a "preferred walk-on"

#2 is a frosh who is very good, and #s 3 and 4 transferred in this year from other schools

we had 5 scholarship players for a couple of weeks this spring, but I guess the player came back got reinjured. Last year at the ACC tournament we're playing two walk ons

Geez, how many scholarships does women's golf have? In a sport where you need five players to score, having the fifth be a *true* walk-on is embarrassing.

Also, Idk much about golf, but only being +6 as a true walk-on at NCAA regionals seems like a personal fucking accomplishment (while simultaneously being a team failure)

Yes, I thought the young lady did pretty well, all things considered. Team seems to be a bit hard luck last few years with some of the attrition issues (wonder what is the issue).

Making the turn four shots out of 5th. Kupcho is -4 today, Liu is -1, the other three are over par (two are at +4 and +5 so we need one of them to step it up on the back side).

FYI - on the women's side, top 6 teams advance to NCAAs

DEACS TRAVEL TO FLORIDA FOR NCAA REGIONAL
• Wake Forest will compete at the 2018 Tallahassee Regional, hosted by Florida State
The Deacs are looking for a top-six finish that would qualify them for the NCAA Championships, held later this month in Stillwater, Okla.

It's just a killer having somebody in the Five Spot who never contributes to the team score. It put so much pressure on your top 4 to never have a bad round

Kupcho is -6 through 12. Lowest round of the day to this point. She can flat out play.

She's singlehandedly keeping us close. She's -6 and the rest of the counting team is +5 combined.

Mai with 3 doubles on the front. Yikes. Needs to pick up a few coming home.

Yes, #5 & #4 for us both at +7 today. Need some birdies on these last few holes.

So many shitty women golfers in the NCAA. Easy scholarship if you can afford the club membership and coaching when young.

the team struggled today and will go into tomorrow in 7th place, needing to move up a spot to advance

Kupcho now in sole possession of first place, -10 overall and -8 on the day through 16
