Men in their 30s are impotent

Does quality of sperm even have anything to do with sustaining an erection?

Like, I'm legit confused about this whole situation. My basic understanding of birds and bees is taking a nosedive. Maybe I need to be impotent to be normal.

It does not, but are we measuring impotence by fertility or virility? It can be measured both ways. In the OP, it's measured by ability to get it up.

Stress and alcohol?

Yea, maybe.

And porn (probably).

And (I strongly suspect) environmental exposures to such things as pesticides, plastics, organic solvents, etc.

Yes, but obesity probably the biggest. Diet & movement so important. Think the last 2-3 generations on average have less T than their fathers.

Chemicals lower T
https://fitness.mercola.com/sites/f.../29/phthalates-lower-testosterone-levels.aspx

Drugs lower T
https://www.anabolicmen.com/antiandrogens/

Corticosteroid and opiate-based pain killers.
Most of the tranquilizers and beta-blockers.
Serotonin raising antidepressants (SSRIs).
Sylfonulurea (suppresses thyroid and testosterone).
Spironolactone, a commonly prescribed blood-pressure drug.
Long-term use of NSAID’s; ibuprofen and paracetamol (but not aspirin).
Acid reducer Cimetidine (Tagamet, etc), suppresses testicular enzymes.
Hair-loss drugs primary used to reduce androgens (finasteride, dutasteride).
Drugs that interfere with natural cholesterol synthesis (statins, etc).
NSAAs or non-steroidal antiandrogens (Flutamide, Nilutamide, etc).
Some anti-fungal drugs, such as the commonly used ketoconazole.
GnRH antagonists (all estrogens, premarin, cetrorelix, high dose progestrone).

Yea, lots of potential factors.

My pet peeve for a while has been (from the article on chemicals/phthalates, emphasis mine)

Avoid using artificial air fresheners, dryer sheets, fabric softeners, scented candles, or other synthetic fragrances and perfumes.

For some reason over the last decade or so I’ve become highly intolerant of artificial scents. In trying to understand why, I found lots of really concerning stuff out about our essentially unregulated scenting industry. Shockingly, Europe generally and Canada are far more careful what kind of chemical shit one is allowed to put into products that end up in your blood stream, including by inhalation.

Air fresheners are generally pure evil.

probably because they suck and smell artificial and breathing in fake-smell chemicals is a ridiculous concept.
