Because that's what ORR does. The appropriations bill directly funds HHS/ORR. The money going into the HHS/ORR bucket funds programs such as those. HHS/ORR and those at the state level with DHHS/SRO that administer these funds are for the most part not new with this administration, but career public servants with 20+ years advocating and working for the health, safety, and stability of refugee and immigrant communities.

It is shameful and devastating that policymakers chose to provide the Trump Administration an additional $4.5 billion to shore up the very systems that are putting children in cages, where at least six have perished in recent months. So many children dying in government custody is a horrific symptom of the inability of this government to fulfill its basic responsibilities and engage in solutions that uphold the full human rights of our children. The extra funding will not keep children safe, nor will it address the factors that are causing so many people to flee their countries. It will simply waste billions of taxpayer dollars and drive even more profits to private prisons.

It was. Pelosi and the Dems got worked. The whole thing made no sense. There’s plenty of money. Trump specifically argued that they didn’t need to use the money they had on soap and toothbrushes.

I’m tired of the Dems and media being so vulnerable to BS Republican talking points.

Apparently, the Canadian newspaper chain that let him go allowed its "business ties within the United States" to influence its decision. "Trade has been an issue since Trump took office...And the President [Trump] himself is an unknown quantity who punishes those who appear to oppose him." So, they're scared of a Trump lashback. Shameful.
 
ProPublica uncovers Facebook group for Border Patrol agents filled with derogatory posts targeting migrants, lawmakers

In on post, group members reportedly joked about a 16-year-old Guatemalan migrant who died in May while in custody at a Border Patrol station in Weslaco, Texas.

Another post included an image of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), who has been bombarded with sexist and racist comments since being elected last year, engaged in oral sex with a detained migrant.

Another photo included an illustration of a smiling President Trump forcing Ocasio-Cortez’s head toward his crotch. The agent who posted the image commented: “That’s right bitches. The masses have spoken and today democracy won.”

In another thread, a group member posted a photo of father and his 23-month-old daughter lying face down in the Rio Grande. The pair drowned while trying to ford the river and cross into the U.S.; pictures of the two have circulated widely online in recent days, generating an outcry.

The member asked if the photo could have been faked because the bodies were so “clean.” (The picture was taken by an Associated Press photographer, and there is no indication that it was staged or manipulated.) “I HAVE NEVER SEEN FLOATERS LIKE THIS,” the person wrote, adding, “could this be another edited photo. We’ve all seen the dems and liberal parties do some pretty sick things…”
