Reminds me of a story I read about Russian corruption a few years ago. The author of the piece was in a Moscow cab in the middle of rush hour when an ambulance comes up behind their car with lights and sirens blaring. The cab refused to move. The cabbie then proceeds to tell the author that the uber-rich in Moscow literally hire ambulances to drive through traffic so he’s done moving over for them.

Imagine living in a society where your first reaction to seeing an ambulance with sirens on is “fuck those guys”.
