Doral Moore joining Washington Wizards summer league team

THEY WEREN'T GOING TO BE DRAFTED NEXT YEAR EITHER

This is the important part people seem to be missing.

So they get to earn a decent wage a year earlier playing ball overseas. Good for them.

People need to stop being so butthurt about how it impacted Wake Forest basketball. It's not like the powers that be give a damn about the program's success, so why would the players?

You’re probably right about them not being drafted. But, they would have an awesome degree that would help them in a big way down the line in a non basketball world.

Because that cant be achieved later after making hundreds of thousands of dollars playing overseas for a few year...

The motivation to go back to school in your 30's is pretty low I would think. Particularly when you no longer have academic support.

They made a horrible decision.

Holy assumptions about other people, Batman!

"Each additional year in college has diminishing returns" For BC I completely agree but could not be more wrong in regards to Moore. The guys improvement from previous year from avg. 2.6 pts/2 rebounds to 11/9 is eye popping and with work under DM there is no doubt he would have more upside next year as well as a chance to work on his D and stamina/quickness. Other bigs have typically shown improvement year to year under DM as well as just in general when in ACC and you grow physically and going against smaller/younger guys.

Poor decision for DM no matter how you slice it given tremendous upside. The risk/reward equation for him was without question minimal risk with another year with huge potential reward. Could easily have seen him be a 15/10+ guy especially with Hoard, a better Chaundee, a better Sarr that opens it up more underneath for Moore and shown more quickness and agility to improve his status.

Big big head scratcher. But good luck to the big fellow as he seemed like a genuinely nice guy.

1) Who said anything about 30's? They can take summer and on-line classes while they play if they want to fill out some credits and get closer to graduation. And if they manage to play professional basketball until their 30's and save, they probably won't need to go back for a degree anyway. They'll have plenty of money to start a business, or just to live off the interest, depending on how good of a career it ends up being.

2) Soldiers do it all the damn time.

Oh good ! We've started the exact same argument over from square one with one additional piece of information !

What do you think the chances of being drafted in the NBA would have been for Moore? You do realize that Moore's full-time job is now to play basketball, right? It's his career. No distractions from class, college life, etc. It's not like he's going to stop developing as a player because he left college. There's a good chance his development may accelerate.

Agree to some extent. The other side of that coin is that you only get one chance to make a first impression. That first impression would likely have been better next year.

He will have to improve a lot to get a second look.

Doral had absolutely no chance of getting drafted next year. Stop with the stupidity.
