2019 offical College Football thread

So if Northwestern wins tonight, they in?

Hell yea they are. Let’s get Cinderella in CFB. Let them take ND’s spot until they join a conference. If they don’t belong, then the #1 seed gets a functional bye week, who cares? If they beat the #1, then it’s hard to say they don’t belong.

There is no scenario that Georgia should be in. They just had their quarter final game and lost. Boohoo for them.

The conference champion people are full of shit. They want a waste a week watching Washington get their ass beat. If you want to expand to 8, take the 8 best teams.

People whine all the time that student athletes are taken advantage of but are okay with forcing them to play more and more games in a sport that is horrible for their bodies.

FCS, Division II and III all have a playoff.

Cut one of the bullshit whore games at the beginning of the season. Who cares about Bama-Samford?

Every other NCAA sport decides their champ with a real playoff. People made the same tired as hell argument against a 4-team playoff. No one seems upset about the FCS, D2, D3, etc. playoffs.

The CFPC would have to move UGA up to #3 and drop ND to #4. Also, that would assume that both Oklahoma and OSU are left out. It is possible this could happen because the CFPC has already set precedent by putting both OSU and Bama in the Playoffs without winning their division in back to back years.

Exactly. ND drops to 4 due to not being seen today on Championship Saturday and OSU and OK stay out. Heather Dinich seems to agree if has some merit.

You are so stupid. How does your brain even make you breathe ?

College football is great because the regular season matters. A lot. And people watch as a result. Very hesitant to get away from that, as are conferences as that's where all the conference TV deal $$ comes from.

I'm alright with expanding, but definitely against giving P5 winners an auto spot. Non-conference play should matter beyond just seeding

No one cares about that level at all.

Why bother playing the 1-4 playoff then? Why not just give it to Alabama and not play any of the games?

I hadn't realized how shitty Clemson's schedule was this year. Dabo does have it easy going through the garbage ACC each year. They've rarely had to play a top 10 team all season before the CFP since FSU's decline.

If you win your conference and get in, how is the regular season not mattering? How do you think you win your conference? Non conference play matters very little now. If Bama’s non conference schedule is a joke, does anyone think they don’t belong? As of now, teams play one meaningful non conference game a season it seems. Then some cupcakes.

Too many variables involved in conference championships too. You only play 8-9 games and who you get at home/on the road, the strength of your division makes a huge-ass difference. The proper weight is placed on them now, shouldn't be extended
